Thanks Fred. I am actually using a AudioQuest HDMI. I think I may give up on chasing this one down. Honestly DSD makes up so little of my listening that I think spending the energy on this maybe NOT worth it.

I do have a question, is there any benefit in my setup adding the DI-20HE? My source is the Hifi Rose RS130 direct into the R7HEMk3 via USB or i2s. Thanks as always for the feedback.

R7HEMK3 and the DI20HE. I see a good pattern here......then ACSS for future feature....HE9MK3

DI20HE is the best thing audio-gd has ever made out of all of my experience. Just be sure what model you are going to get. 75 or 50.

The scenario in the first place with DI20HE is 100% best practice with your source. You have two options of input SPDIF and USB. Different HDMI mode for pin configuration.

If you are using the Pearl-48 HDMI you will have to upgrade to something else imo. I hate that cable after my experience with AVplay. It sounded harsher in my setup after I had 1000hours with AVPlay. DI20HE-R8H2-HE9LE. AVplay was more open and airy in comparison test. If you plan to get the AVplay get the expensive one and not the cheap with weird loose connectors

Mine has been upgraded to have an external clock input. BNC connection has been converted to 75ohm clock imput.

I think the DI-20HE would be beneficial.

I have a similar question about di20he and ock2. I own and love r27he.
Would I benefit from additionally getting di20he and/or ock2?
Also is there any benefit for me in getting a usb isolator (something like ifi iGalvanic3 or similar)?

I have a DI-20HE, and an iGalvanic 3.
The galvanic isolation of the USB input of the DI-20HE is not great. An iGalvanic 3 is very beneficial. I was using it with my DI-20HE, before adopting fiber USB converters instead.

if you are using a conventional HDMI cable (standard cable arrangement) then you need to configure your ROSE 130 to I2S mode A to match PS Audio standard being what is implemented on the R7HE MK3.

in case you would have a special configured cable layout (eg. Gustard), this will not work with the ROSE as there are too less combinations possible in the menu.

An AVPlay HD300 with default configuration will do the job, with some more budget the Tubulus Concentus will be exceptional.

ROSE I2S config and R7HE pin config.

Hello, thanks for the info. I am not using anything Gustard anymore I am using the audio-gd R7HEMk3 and profile A aka PS Audio in the RS130. The i2s / hdmi cable is AudioQuest so it is standard not specialty.

In this case, either ROSE inverted the channels or Audio-Gd…. You could try with another IIS streamer if possible to find the origin.
On Audio-Gd side you can also try feeding him directly via USB to test?

I did compare:
(1) RS 130 > I2S > DAC (Leaf Audio CMD27) vs
(2) RS 130 > fiber isolated USB > DI20HE > I2S > DAC
and prefer the latter.
For some time I have been fantasizing about the DI20HE becoming redundant, but that fantasy has not yet become reality...

AQ HDMI cables are not so good (unless it's Firebird or Dragon) and the recommended above I2s Tubulus is on par with the top AQ Dragon... IMHO, With that 5 K streamer you need to try the best i2s cable available (The Tubulus) to remove the bottleneck / unleash the streamer SQ ...
