New Audeze LCD3

Can't answer that directly, but my current LCD-3F reminds me a lot of my LCD-2.2, with the main difference being that the LCD-3F doesn't have a hint of grain in the treble whereas the LCD-2.2 was fairly grainy. Other than that the presentation is remarkably similar.

Thank you for your informed and concise reply. The 2's are my favourite headphone to date, although I have always thought the treble (which I do not think is exaggerated/edgy) could be clearer/more transparent/detailed. Looks like I need to start saving!

I was wondering that also, because I have the most recent LCD 2, and wondering how much better the LCD 3s are. If they are similar with just a hint of grain I can't see spending a grand more for them.

I hear you! There is a big jump in cost from 2 to 3. Sadly (to date) the up-grade bug is winning all my internal battles. I started my HP journey with a set of Takstar Hi 2050's (at the time couldn't imagine a headphone sounding better/the need to upgrade) many many hundreds of pounds later....

Yep, I started with the hd 598. I thought they were good, next thing I know I've got hd 650s, LCD2s, and Hd800s. I also just bought so SR 007. When will the madness end.

No grain at all, they just both have a very, very chocolately sound signature.

How do the LCD-3 fans feel about the LCD-X?

Hi, Not sure why there are 2 threads for LCD-3 so I will just ask here again. :)
I just bought a new LCD-3 2016 today. However, I found that this new revision comes with more treble, which results in more sibs for some of my favorite songs. Is it usual for this new revision?
Is there anyway I can reduce the sib like burning in, replacing the original leather pads with vegan pads or switching my DACs? I am currently using Audio-GD Master 11.

The original LCD-3 must be all sorts of thick and dark....

They're not. I have the pre-fazor and for what I love to listen to (jazz vocals) they are fantastic.

I'm finding the Fazor version to be thick and dark, however.

Got my LCD3 non-fazor about 2-3 years ago...really love the sound. They are quite heavy but sometimes I forget it, when i'm listening :)

I want to upgrade the stock cable to improve the sound. Which cable is the best for doing that?

I am using an platinum alloy cable from Hong Kong Labkable, Samurai III material (originally for iem) to custom made a 8 strand headphone cable for my Lcd3f. It is composed of approximately 98.5% Silver, 1% Gold and 0.5% Platinum (they have verified composition at lab).

The gold and platinum seem to smooth out the silver high analytical and sharp characteristics, making it very crystal clear but smooth, and blowing out every type of high grade copper wire, while adding some very elastic sound to the bass.
