Alo and Aphrodite have them in stock but American voltage afaik, if he doesn't answer fast enough he won't be getting my money that's for sure, since I'm not patient at all and need an amp.

I believe ALO swapped Googleli's LF voltage for him in house before sending it out.

Either way I'll shoot Alex a text and let him know you're interested.

Please let me him know I'm interested too, its been two months since i sent him an email, without any answer :(

I texted him for both of you. I feel a bit like I'm overstepping my bounds but I really want Alex to do well so he can keep up the good work. Gotta support my local guys however I can.

Well, after nearly having to sell off my LCD-3s to cover some unexpected financial issues, I figured out a way I could hold on to them.  Not only that, I managed to RMA them to Audeze to be tested and "fixed" if necessary.  Oh boy, were they fixed!
biggrin.gif
I never thought of them as being one of the "veiled" or "recessed" versions, but what a difference new earpads and damping makes!  I don't know if Audeze did anything to the drivers themselves but the wood earpieces were my original ones.  There is foam under the outer grill instead of felt, and the fabric in the middle of the earpads lets me see the drivers like others described.  I received a new freq. response test chart to compare with my old one:

old                                                                                      ...and new

While not looking like a drastic change on the charts, the sound quality is noticeably better!  I really can tell the difference and it appears the "recessed" upper-mids/treble or "veil" is gone.  Even the bass has better punch and detail.  I didn't realize how muddy these sounded in the original configuration.

Thanks to Purrin and everyone who helped Audeze stand up and take notice, you all have helped make me a very happy camper!

I really won't be letting these go any time soon!

Cheers!

Okay guys and gals. Just got word from Alex...He has no more LFs to buy direct anymore and is actually hard at work on a few LF orders from the shipment that went out earlier this month.

That's the bad news.

The good news is that the dealers know how to covert them to 240 if necessary. You can get in contact with a dealer and they should be able to get you one quick.

And to make it slightly on topic...Go get one for your LCD 3s. It's a great pairing.

badwisdom, sorry about this problem. I would not have let an email go stale for 60 days unless for some reason it didn't actually reach me or I was about to kick the bucket. I usually respond fairly quickly. Can you please email me again.

There was a time when the contact form didn't work correctly, but I think we fixed that within a day or two.

And anyone else who has tried to contact me, but didn't get a response.

Edit: Gents, this doesn't read like a very hospitable response. Sorry about that. Since I am MOT I try to be very brief in my posts so that I don't violate the rules.

But, please, anyone who believes they should have a response from me, but doesn't, contact me again.

I don´t experience anything like that either with my LCD-2 rev1, but the LCD-3 ear cups are like suction cups and they feel really uncomfortable on my ears and my ears feel this "unhealthy" pressure after listening them.

I guess there are several of us who dislike the suction cup effect due to the absence of vents and the perfect seal provided by the new squishy pads... so I have just tried this little mod that will probably make some head-fier recoil in horror:

Cut a couple of compressed air can straw bits (probably black cocktail straw would be pretty discreet too) about the width of the adhesive strip, pulled the pads off slightly in the lower back section and inserted the straw bits. Now if I push the pads together, squishing the squishy pads, a surprising amount of air volume is being vented, kind of like a small, very expensive handpump  -_-;

The suction effect is now gone when wearing them and it's been comfortable for a couple of hours. To my ears it does not really seem to affect the sound quality, but I'll let finer ears be the judge of that should somebody else give this a try. To me it's worth the long session comfort for now. And anyway, it's easy to undo: just pull out the straw bit and firmly press the pad back on the frame.

Cool!  The thing to listen for would be loss of bass especially deep bass, increase in treble, and possibly a weird unnatural soundstage effect.  It could actually be a good mod for the veiled LCD-3's since they have excessive bass and are in need of some air (sonic, not physical).  I would probably want to put the vent in front, but that's me.

Is there any agreement about in what way the LCD-3 rev.2 (new/RMA'ed) differs from the rev.1 (first batches)

This is my impression:
1) Felt replaced with foam
2) Suction effect gone - due to what?? New pads? Venting holes??

I agree with 1). That happened in my RMA case and everyone who has bought recently or got back an RMA pair seem to have got this new dampening material too. In terms of 2), I never experienced a suction effect so can't comment. Apart from the two points, I feel that the current/revision 2 LCD-3s seem to be noticeably more transparent as compared to the Rev 1/orginial units. Do note that this is only from my experience with two RMA'd units.

I know Robert from Aphroditecu29.com has two from the latest run. I left him a message about changing the voltage for you. I will let you know as soon as I hear from him.
I am not associated with him other than him being my dealer for many things specially his Zeus cable. His craftsmanship is great and he is a very good guy to deal with.

Well... I asked for it.  Audeze sent me firmer, more consistent black pads for the LCD-3 - LCD-2 pads to be exact.

I could understand if I was dealing with a corporation and it's bureaucracy, where everything is like a game of broken telephone - but from a small business in a cottage industry I would have expected more than this whole saga.

Ah well, maybe some Stax on the horizon.  I'm not sure at this point if I'd rather go with: A brand that's a major hassle to get serviced but is made right the first time or a brand with decent service who got it wrong and continues to get it wrong.

If this wasn't happening to me, I would find the whole cycle of events somewhat comical.

For those of you who have received your RMA'd LCD-3s back from Audez'e: what was the approximate turn-around time?

I'm not impatient, and I realize they're quite busy with general business, the launch of the new LCD-2 revisions, and all the LCD-3s they're getting back. I'd just like a better idea of what to expect.
