This is my first post as I hav been reading posts for a few weeks now Nd I can't find the info I'm looking for. I've never used a dedicated headphone amp, but I have owned some recording gear with what seem like powerful headphone amps (not sure about he quality). Anyhow, tried the akg 702s through three different receivers, eq, and two recording interface. My question is, should I give up one the 702s and get some new headphones with a more "fun" sound, or do you think I will see a big enough difference to be happy with them if I get an amp? I'm trying to maximize my $$$ to get the best sound for the least money. I can sell the akg's and mane get the grado ps 500s and use my forte as an amp and dac, or get a nice Amp for the akg's. to be specific, I seem to like the sound more if I eq in some extra bass and treble, but when I do the sound gets muddy. And suggestions would be great!!!

Get the PS500 if you want the fun sound. The K702 does not suit your needs since its on the bass-light department while Grados have a fun tonality.
