Well, I'm sorry, but that's obviously not true. Sony, Shure are two companies who have made well respected headphones for the professional market for years that use elliptical ears cups. There are those that do, notably Beyer, but some do, some don't......

There is the vintage yet still produced Beyer DT 100/150 which are rectangular, the DT 250 is elliptical. Shure makes the SRH840,etc. Sennheiser HD 280, HD 300, HD 400 Pro. Sony the V6, 7506, CD900ST, M1ST. Audio Technica the M50x, etc. There are many more instances.

Honestly @indigogo, I admire your enthusiasm for the NDH 30, and you are right, it is an exceptional headphone, but you really don’t do it any service with most of your posts on this thread.

And I'm not trying to promote them.
Thanks to them, my work has become much easier and in gratitude I write the truth about them)))
Usually I always lie)
Here is an exception, use it for good)))

Also, Sennheiser Orpheus HE-1, HE-90, HE-60, no compromise headphones. If elliptical shape was an issue why adapt it in multithousand dollar headphones?

Marketing in this area is a delicate and tricky business)))
Those who are willing to pay that kind of money for these designer toys usually do not understand anything about music. The main thing for them is that the headphones in the shape of the ears sit well and comfortably, and look modern cool)))))

I'll wear triangle pads for all I care if the headphone sounds good.
Anyway, the ndh30 met all my sound expectation, exceeding them in even. Build is also excellent except the earpad’s fabric could be better and cable is less to be desired. It’s thin and too light to lay flat on the table. The cable that came with AT’s AWAS and AWKT are far more superior.
Well considering the majority of professional Beyers (one of the biggest Pro headphone makers) are round earcups, there are other professional manufacturers that definitely make round earcups. Older AKG's did as well.
Everything is true, with a few exceptions, 660S2 compared to the sound and performance of NDH 30 should cost no more than $300
Again, the 660S2's elliptical shape makes them unsuitable for accurate sound field reproduction
