If   A pair of akgs 701s sounds good to me on an Ipod. I sappose im missing out on alot ?  i mean my Mixer amp Helps the sound staging abit Bit i have no idea. AM I missing out on the big picture of the 701s?

I have no idea what it sounds like out of an iPod, but I do know what it sounds like out of an ok amp like an EMU 0404 USB. I can imagine an ipod being worse than the EMU. First is the bass. It is undefined and the bass sounds muddy. You can hear bass probably, but it has no character to it. Next is soundstage and the details within it. When amped, you hear the nuances of a recording you never heard before (and of course its flaws). I really think you're missing out a lot.

Of course you can't compare it to a real amp but from experience with all my headphones, the 701 will probably kick the crap out of the ibuds and most budget cans when played on a ipod.
