Hello Head-Fi, I heard you were the place to go for this kind of stuff.

My Sony MDR-7506's recently broke so I'm trying to find a new pair. I listen to mostly hardcore techno, gabber, and speedcore, I also just got into DnB. Price range is around 100 - 200, though I'd prefer having the price star nearer to 100. I don't own an amp (until I know how much better music sounds on these things, I won't be looking into buying them) so these will be going into my computer, they don't need to be portable since I'm just going to buy a separate pair of IEM's.

Not really sure what else to tell you guys since I'm pretty new to this.

New question: If I were to connect an amp to an on board sound card, would it make any difference or would I still need to buy a new sound card?

Hi, and welcome to Head-fi.
I got two questions need to ask in order to suggest you for a good pair of headphone.
1. Are you using on-board sound card?
2. What type of audio quaility you are listening to?(CD?MP3?FLAC? etc.)

Haha, I don't really mind that, either way I'll still be using them only at home.

By the way, I referenced the Audio Technica ATH M50's, those are also worth a look and closer to your $100 price point.

I'm not a BeyrerDynamic buff but I'm sure they'd have something for your ears at the $150 price.

Yeah, I noticed the inb4 so I just went and googled them, I definitely like the price tag on 'em.
Before I made this thread I was actually looking at the DT 770-80's, I made the thread to make sure I wasn't going to make a mistake.

If you are using on-board sound card with mp3. I would suggest HD 201(~30$) or HD 448 (~100$).
Anythings higher than 100$ is not necessary unless you planning to switch a better sound card.

given your tastes go with some intro grados or sonys until you fine tune the sound you're looking for

@above: Thanks, but I'm trying to steer clear from Grados, been reading that they're uncomfortable as hell. Any specific Sony models?

I actually just purchased Sony MDR XB500's last night. I've given them a listen and really like them but what really sold me was the comfort. I'd say it would be good for your genre's.
