I currently own a pair of superlux hd668b that i use for gaming and listening music. For gaming I play majority FPS but like other genres as well but soundstage is big for me for positional sounds. Also, my prefered genre for music is hip hop. I've been looking to buy some AKG K612PRO and i really like the design but dont really feel comfortable dropping that much on headphones unless i will see a great deal of improvement from my current set, and I also was looking at sennheiser hd 558 headphones.Im using an astro mixamp with the headphones and a modmic 4.0

So what I want to ask of the headfi community is the AKG worth the money, are they significantlly better than my current set? Are the sennheiser better?

Im also open to other suggestions for headphones and if there are any websites, that sell headphones discounted besides amazon?

I would like to note that I bought my superlux after reading threads about them from here a while back/

There's always the FS/FT subforum. I've seen a few 598's on sale in the past week or so. Worth keeping an eye on things there.

OK k612 has more bass than the 598. Does the 598 do anything better than the k612, and what about the k601 isn't that what the 612 is modeled after? Also, I'm really thankful for the help.

The K612Pro and the K601 don't have anything at all in common.
To better describe this in words - think of them as "opposites" to each other.
{ The 601 is bright, and lacking in bass and extension... }
 
The HD598 has good sound stage, and is comfortable. very good with all amplifiers. great all-rounder.
With some recordings however, it might have treble issues, whilst the K612Pro is smoother.
 
other than that - I'm afraid I cannot help in comparison.
but they seem to be playing at the same "league".

AD700 is very light in bass, and so is the HD 598.  Not sure if you'd want that for hip hop.

It would be used mostly for gaming with occasional use for music.
