im looking for an amp that wont change the sound of my grados to give them more power than just straight out of an ipod. if it adds a little bass that wont hurt either. and also if it helps the preformance of my turbine golds wouldnt be bad either.

would a headsix do the job for this? or is there something better in the same price bracket.

i dont know if i want to start higher out on the ladder or try something like a  PA2V2 first

Yes, start out higher, don't go "ladder-climbing" in portable audio.  I strongly don't recommend it.
