If I do end up on the tour I'll definitely have to compare them to the IE600 as the graphs I have seen so far make them seem very similar!Great question and thank you for being part of the #IE900Club! You highlight the very need for a tour... On paper we do the best we can to showcase the differences but the reality is that the demo best showcases it's spot in the hierarchy. I don't think you have to own any of the others in the family to be able to appreciate the IE 200 -- it stands on its own quite well...but with virtually all demonstrations thus far (200 vs 600, for example) the listener can hear the difference and see the value of either.
That price-to-performance ratio of the 200 is capable of pulling more into this great community. Neither the 600 nor 900 are as well suited to newcomers to the in-ear category even though they still magnify the differences between serious solutions and garden variety ones.
The 200 is also great example of incorporating feedback from the 300 and 600. We've been listening and from both a sound and experience perspective, and wanted to showcase: a pleasant curve that many have responded well to in the 600, an easy way to get more mileage out of the same earphone (the staged ear tip positions), and a more flexible & refined cable design. The 300 tuning has a dedicated core of fans, but next to the 200, it is different enough to appreciate right away. That said, the 600 and 900 do offer an enhanced accessory package in addition to build materials, tuning, frequency absorbers, etc. and the user will have to decide if that combination is enough to take the plunge.
We are keeping an eye on this and hope to open up an EU leg soon. Stay tuned for updates.
