Our new IE 200 packs a punch, and well above its weight class too. It combines some of the best sonic traits of the IE 300 and 600 thanks to our dynamic 7mm TrueResponse transducer. To give our Head-Fi pals a fresh take on the new earphone, we’re sponsoring a “Review Tour” for the IE 200 in North America. In exchange for extended use of the IE 200, all we ask is that participants post an in-depth review/highly-detailed impressions on Head-Fi’s IE 200 Head Gear page. Most importantly, you’ll get to use the IE 200 with your own setup, letting you easily isolate the variables that matter most to you.

Applying for the tour is easy: post your interest in this thread and that you agree to the terms and conditions, and we’ll reach out to select candidates and coordinate the rest. We will select 2 reviewers from the US, Canada, and Mexico – the tour ends after we select 6 reviewers. When you post a review, impressions, or photos on Instagram, please tag them with #IE200Tour.

We will be compiling a playlist of select songs to showcase the IE 200’s capabilities based on tour reviews, et al., so please share links to any relevant streaming tracks you used to evaluate the IE 200.

[We’ll edit this post to add it here, soon.]

Loaner Program Terms and Conditions

You may evaluate the loaner IE 200 for two weeks from date of arrival at your tour stop. A Head-Fi review is what makes the tour work so well for the community, but don’t forget to tag any related social media, Amazon reviews, or pictures with #IE200Tour so your fellow audiophiles can see them “in the wild.”

You must be OK with your real name and address being privately provided to Sennheiser for shipping purposes. Sennheiser will be allowed to elevate and share your whole statement or excerpts on our product and store pages. In addition to posting full reviews here on Head-Fi, we encourage reviewers to also post their reviews on your own webpages, channels, and servers. Sennheiser will provide a prepaid shipping label for the next tour stop, and advise the ideal carrier at that time. Sennheiser will also provide additional new eartips with each tour stop.

Please post tour-related updates in this thread upon receipt of the IE 200, and when published, a link to your Head Gear page review. It’s a “good neighbor” practice to alert the thread when you’ve received the IE 200, and then again when you have shipped the IE 200. If you choose to use 3rd party eartips and cables (this is NOT required), please offer objective perspective on the stock eartips and cables in addition to impressions using 3rd party eartips and cables. Please also consider the dual-tuning feature (eartips in position 1 or 2) as it can unlock a different listening experience.

You are responsible for the integrity of the IE 200 and its components during your tour stop, and agree to immediately privately contact @Sennheiser or @ericpalonen with any comments or concerns. Do not modify or disassemble the IE 200 or its accessories. We recommend keeping and re-using packing materials. Of course, Sennheiser is here to help answer any questions.

Looks good but here is a genuine question, how do you provide a differential between the different models when there are so many similar models in the range? If the IE 200 packs a punch well above its weight class and presumably into IE 300 territory why should I chose the latter over the former.

Other manufacturers achieve this with extra drivers or a better accessory package etc but your offerings are all of the single dynamic driver variety.

I do own the IE 900 BTW and absolutely love it so I would guess this isn't for me in any case.

If there will be a review tour in the Philippines, me and my other colleagues in portable audio review scene are prepared to comply on Sennheiser's terms and conditions.

Great question and thank you for being part of the #IE900Club! You highlight the very need for a tour... On paper we do the best we can to showcase the differences but the reality is that the demo best showcases it's spot in the hierarchy. I don't think you have to own any of the others in the family to be able to appreciate the IE 200 -- it stands on its own quite well...but with virtually all demonstrations thus far (200 vs 600, for example) the listener can hear the difference and see the value of either.

That price-to-performance ratio of the 200 is capable of pulling more into this great community. Neither the 600 nor 900 are as well suited to newcomers to the in-ear category even though they still magnify the differences between serious solutions and garden variety ones.

The 200 is also great example of incorporating feedback from the 300 and 600. We've been listening and from both a sound and experience perspective, and wanted to showcase: a pleasant curve that many have responded well to in the 600, an easy way to get more mileage out of the same earphone (the staged ear tip positions), and a more flexible & refined cable design. The 300 tuning has a dedicated core of fans, but next to the 200, it is different enough to appreciate right away. That said, the 600 and 900 do offer an enhanced accessory package in addition to build materials, tuning, frequency absorbers, etc. and the user will have to decide if that combination is enough to take the plunge.

You are a european company. Why is the tour only for north american users?
We are keeping an eye on this and hope to open up an EU leg soon. Stay tuned for updates.

Keeping an eye on what? Not familiar enough with your own home market after decades of operation and xxx€ millions in sales to European customers?

You are from the EU and you consistently favor the U.S. market in your pricing, sales, etc. You take the EU market for granted (not you, Eric... the company). I expect it from a U.S. company, but what the actual f with European companies doing this.

I was surprised to see this also but I don't know why because it seems to happen a lot.

We're working on it and will advise. Good probability.
