It was mentioned in one of the Sydney Papers when the story broke regarding the John Laws Golden microphone being stolen. I think it was Senheisser brand but cannot remember for sure.

Definitely a Senn, the body type is the HD540/560 type, the headband is second series, which accompanied the switch from 600 to 300 ohm drivers in '91 and lasted to '94 when it was superseded by the HD580. The Gold-colored earpiece cover was not on any version of this headphone that I know, and it looks like they aren't even a gilded version of any of the backs that were in production, at least so far as I can ascertain. The pleather earpads were only put on the lower models in the range, with velours on the top models-- but that doesn't necessarily mean anything, as I'm sure they've been replaced sometime in the last fifteen years.

I'm betting on completely modded back plate, with freely changed venting to make way for the bling. Also note that this guy has a huge head-- mine is quite large, but I could never have used the fully-open setting on the headband of my HD560II.

Yeah I would bet my pants these are modded. This guy is a big radio celebrity here. He loves his Bling.... enough so that he has been tangled up with some rather major scandals regarding money.

so who's gonna Gold plate their favorite headphone.... it will give it a warmer signature!
