NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

Would a Wolfson WM8741 based DAC be maybe not the best pairing for these HP50's ? As they are both on the warm side ?

Hi everyone,

I'm a new comer. After reading this wonderful thread I decided to buy HP50. Sadly these headphones couldn't be found in shops here in China. Eventually I bought a pair from a domestic online shop at the price of about $150, with no package or accessories. You know there are lots of fake headphones here (mainly beats and sennheiser), but I think as these are quite new and rarely known in China, they probably would be genuine.

Anyway I finally got my hands on them today. They look fine and sound nice, but the headband is pressing hard against the top of my head which is unusually big. It's the first time I met a problem like this. My head could barely fit in a sennheiser or a beyerdynamic, but the headband of HP50 is in a strange shape of rounded rectangle. Does anybody else have the same trouble? I haven't figured out how to adjust it yet...

  Hi everyone,

Did someone already have an experience to disassemble NADs? Interested to make them balanced - as they already have dual entry.

Check out this post: http://www.head-fi.org/t/679473/the-ibasso-dx50-thread-latest-firmware-1-2-8/10005#post_10146687.

Hi all,

first post here so please be fair if my questions are a complete nonsense for you or if my non native english is not as good as it should be...
After reading so many interesting threads here, searching what would be my first closed, over-the-ear, sub $300 headphone, I finally decided to pick a NAD HP50, paired with an also arriving Ifi Audio Nano iDSD for the source, hoping they will fulfill my needs and tastes

.

So my question is : waiting for my gears, I was wondering if the dual plug of the phone wouldn't be an easy and not too intrusive way to mod its connectivity for balanced usage with a proper fully balanced amp ? Did someone already make this hack and otherwise what could we expect of the HP50 in such a configuration ?

A friend of mine took my $150 HP50 home to have a shootout with his ATH ES7. He wasn't impressed. He said HP50 doesn't go as deep as ES7, and the detail is not on par with it either. Though HP 50 has a larger stage.

So I start to wonder if what I bought is genuine. But my HP50 indeed has a little "roomfeel" which most sealed hps don't possess. From what I heard, HP50 should be better than ATH M50 which probably betters ES7. Sure I haven't burned in my pair. Is there a big difference before/after burn in?

Thank you for your help in advance.

I'm sure there are no counterfeit HP50's yet. Your friend may just prefer the sound sig of the ES7's. They aren't too shabby according to reviews I've read from trusted people. I've never heard them, but I can say I certainly prefer my HP50's to the M50's I had.

Don't know if you could see the photos.

I took off the earpads from my $150 HP50. Compared to Tyll's photo, the code bar is missing. And all silver screws have traces marks made by screwers. I don't think it's normal. But the seller insisted that he got the headphone directly from the manufacturer.

Could someone help me out by telling me if your HP50 looks like mine? Especailly the color and intactness of the screws. Thank you very much!

Sorry, currently I'm not able to submit photos or off-site links.
