I like the k550 a lot (but lacks a little of bass and dynamics as I said ==> I agree to lose a little the soundstage to improve these factors). I Will receive Momentum tomorrow and k545 next week !

While back I pondered should I buy HP50 or Momentum, I decided to go with HP50 for more exciting headphones. I ordered them 2 weeks ago, but the shop informed me that they are all out of red color. I almost told them that ship the black ones, but for once in my life I decided to get something else than black so I am sticking with my decision. I will get my headphones some time next year which is kinda bummer, but hey, at least I get what I want. Also I have to get new glasses but the fashion nowdays is horrible and I have to buy those large hipster style glasses so my red headphones will nicely fit to my unwanted new hipster look. 
 
In the mean time I got change to test Momentum on-ear and over ear versions. As I expected on-ear headphones just aren't for me. Even by wearing them for few seconds they pressed on my ears. I know you can bend the steel frame to make them more comfy, but I doubt it will help much. They do sound nice for on-ear headphones and I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants on-ear ones. What really surprised me was the size of over ear Momentums. They are barely bigger than on-ear!  
 
I tested them, fiddled around with the settings for a while. I got them to comfortable position, but I have this weird birthmark on my right ear. It is kinda extra "ledge" on my ear. It is there because when I was in the womb I had my finger pressing my ear when it was growing. It really small, but I just could not get my extra part of ear fit nicely to Momentum. Otherwise they were really comfy and snug. Sound isolation was pretty good. Just by putting them on your ears they muffled sounds surrounding you nicely and when playing music I could not hear anything what another people on the store were talking about. 
 
As I know HP50 is little bigger than Momentum, so they will probably fit nicely. I am really clad I picked HP50. I had some doubts as there is no store where I could test them, but after testing Momentum I am quite content that HP50 will fit nicely. 
 
I have no idea why I wrote this wall of text, but hopefully it will give some information for people who are wondering between Momentum and HP50. I will compare fit of HP50 to Momentum once I actually get them. I will leave the sound stuff for people who have more knowledge about it

Lots of comparisons in this thread with the M100, which is great as I've been looking for a more neutral closed can for portable use.  Until I spotted the HP-50 I was very close to settling on the Mad Dogs.  So far I haven't seen many comparisons between them and the HP-50 - does anyone here have both, or experience with both?

I tried both (the Momentum since today !) I did not like the Viso but it is technically above Momentum. Impressive. To me it sounds wrong, but I understand that others like. Very dynamique, a lot of details and spacialisation (full of details that go in all directions surprisingly, it is the problem to me). Momentum is more classic, I prefer. But it lacks a bit of air, with a very obvious gap in the region of 5000 khz. Ultimately it is a matter of taste I think you should try both.
EDIT ==> I was wrong, you want another comparison (Mad Dogs). Do not pay attention to this post.

So, I like the discussion that is going on in this thread. I'm not settled about my close-back headphones yet. I bought A900x to try them but I find them to lack detail and to be a little bit bassy.

I just read your discussion about K550 vs K545 vs HP50. I don't really think I would like momentum for what I read. I don't care them to be a little bit warm but they have to have detail, tons of it, and preferably a tight bass. I prefer dry sound to smoothness. My reference headphone right now is modded Q701 (I tried both standard and modded for a while and settled down with that extra warmth).

What do you think guys?

If the modded Q701 is your reference headphone I strongly recommend the K545. It is similar but better for portable use. I like my nodded Q701 and K545 equally.

The hp50 is a bit more warm sounding, in comparison the PSB is a bit more forward and not as rolled off on the highs.

If you're looking for gobs of detail the hp50 is not gonna do it for you.

After one week of use I think I'll sell the NAD VISO HP50
I bought them for several reasons: Inner Fidelity Wall of Fame, the name NAD, the Room Feel Technology, and some reviews...
Couldn't listen to them before purchase..
 
I agree that they sound very neutral and accurate, but I need a portable headphone and for this purpose these simply don't make it for me.
 

1. they don't look good on me, make my head looks like a square
2. they don't isolate very good
3. they leak a lot
4. they are too neutral for my tase

 
I can't confirm that they're uncomfortable. They are very comfy for me, and the thin headband doesn't bother me. Also on longer listening sessions these won't hurt my head.
But they don't sit too good on my head, meaning that I often find myself readjusting them back and forth. 
 
I have an impression that neither of the often compared headphones here in this thread will suite my need, since they sound more or less similar....momentum etc...
 
Maybe a V-Moda m100 will do the job, I dont' know.
I need something more fun, but still high SQ and highly detailed.
Something for mobile use, so no MrSpeaker etc..
Have an portable amp, so no problem if it needs amping
 
Any suggestions?

Just bought a White HP50 after spending some time testing out the momentums and the NAD. The NAD won flat out with its comfort and sound quality (imo).
 
However....
 
What is up with the included cables.. they are so short.
 
Anyone replaced their cables yet? The input at the earcups seem to require a pretty slim plug.

well I am not asking if they have a different sonic signature. I am wondering if things like timbre, transparency, tonal qualities of the instruments and how they are represented are more refined than the PSB. I can say for sure that the AKG k545 to my ears had better timbre and was more refined than the PSB imo. Not talking detail retrieval, I found the akg to be the more accurate and realistic hp by a good margin. Just wondering what to expect with the NAD in those regards.

The Nad is impressive but not realistic IMO
