Mytek Stereo 96 DAC

I'm not equipped with anything good to test it with even if I could go there and try it. I'd have to use a cheap digital out source and a good one to test the resiliance to source jitter. I'd need a good headphone to see the clarity and the bass issue which is a concern to some of you but I don't have one.

I would be interested too. The sample files sounded fabulous, much better to my ears than the benchmark files.

I also want to know too.
I would like to listen to some comment from our members who have used or are using this Mytek DAC.

Mytek also will have a new DAC launched in March 2005. It is capable of DSD decoding.

Too bad no SACD players can output DSD over their digital connections.

that's what I told myself too.. this feature will be implemented in a module I'm working on as and upgrade to all universal players, working with DSD inside.. it will be transmitted via regular S/PDIF line, DAC will have to support it though, but it's not a big hassle to add that feature to any future DAC..

The new DSD DAC even got the step VR.
I hope they can offer that as an option in their Stereo96 model.
Anybody knows any dealer is offering home audtion or something?
Thank you.

The new Stereo 192 DSD Model has 2 new charactistics
1. 1dB stepped attenuator volume control
2. DSD decoding

However, the price will be USD$1995

I wanna know whether it is worth paying 2 Stereo 96 DAC's price to get 1 Stereo 192 DSD DAC in terms of sound quality.

I had one early this year.
I did compare it with the Benchmark DAC1, and I like the Mytek more.
Actually other than looks, I don't like Benchmark DAC1 much. It is just not my kind of sound, the mid is thin, the high is sharp and uncomfortable.
The Mytek had at least the same amount of details, but not as uncomfortable as the DAC1. Overall listening to the Mytek was a better experience.

That's interesting Jack. Your comments echo the comments of others who have heard both.

Now, why did you get rid of it and what do you have now instead?

And is it any better?
