HA! The new Sony headphone thread gets more posts per day than this whole thread.

at least Sony has an actual headphone one can purchase... LMK where I can order the Mysphere... oh that's right

Hey as stated I'm excited to hear this when it comes out. A million years ago I organized a K1000 shootout at the second National Meet in San Jose and have owned the K1000 several times (and love them). I would however reserve comment until the 3.1 actually comes to fruition.

You haven't seen the sony thread before the z1r was released have you? There were countless pages in no time before anyone even got a chance to own them. The hype regarding the mysphere has been relatively small and niche compared to big releases from the other names.

Is the driver excursion range greater than K1000's?

The maximum excursion P/P is 4mm instead 3mm of the K1000.
However, as the distance to the ear is smaller and the special acoustic damping material surrounding the driver reduce the acoustic short cut, the level at low frequencies will be approx. +10dB compared to K1000. Final data will be available after listening tests later.

Is this an AKG product?

No. Former engineering team of the akg k1000, but this product will not be released by akg.

Probably a good idea to change the thread title then. It feels misleading.

I don't know if this thread was originally called this or if it was changed from the merge. Either way I agree, but the thread name with just mysphere by itself would probably not be familiar with anyone. I think it should be renamed something along the lines of akg k1000 successor, or 1989 akg k1000 vs 2017 mysphere 3.1
