I personally am very proud of my slight amount of facial hair, but my mum and the school (some stupid rule invented to destroy our pride) frowns upon it.

She says it must be a decent razor so I don't cut myself. Pff. Philips brand razors are very common here.

Any suggestions?

lol, my I ask how old you are. (This is a serious question as I know people in there twenties who have still yet grown any facial hair). I personally had to start shaving very young (I think I was 12 or 13)

. Which trust me is no fun.

As for razors basically any at a supermarket from my experience will do the trick if you haven't shaved before. My I however suggest using shaving gel with mosturiser (instead of foam) as it leads to a cleaner shave, and reduces the chances of cutting/grazzing a whole lot.

Um, you do know that facial hair is the definition of manliness?

It's scientifically proven:

As you can see from the graph, 0 blades (no razor) is the most manly. If shaving is somehow a safety requirement (the only reason to shave, ever!) then make sure you use a single blade, like us real men. Only sissy's use "fusion" and "mach 3 turbo" and all that sissy crap.

Tell your school and yo mama to where to stick their razors...

In this day and age we don't need to grow beards to prove our manliness unless we are a terrorist or a guru . The true gentleman shaves with a double edged blade, a good shaving soap and a badger haired brush. There are several threads on head-fi on the subject but for real info you can have a look at Badger & Blade or ShaveMyFace.com. At first I thought a forum on shaving could be nothing but kinky but it turns out that the collection of fine individuals on those fora is not very different from the crowd that gathers here!

I don't have a clue how people manage to cut themselves with a multi-blade safety razors. Back in high school, my sister's boyfriend once turned up in the morning bleeding so badly he had to be driven to the doctor. I recently found out he doesn't use shaving cream because "you look like a clown came on your face". He apparently splashes a bit of water on and has at it, but doesn't link that with the constant stream of shaving cuts.

Gillette Mach Three is the only non-electric razor I will use. For my coarse Asian facial hair, it's the only razor that will do the trick with comfort and ease, and still provides the best shave other than a straight razor. I find that anything over 3 blades can snag my facial hair and cause a good amount of discomfort.

If you can get a Gillette use that. Mach 3 is totally fine, been using one for years. I prefer shaving gel to foam, makes the shave smoother and more comfortable and i find i get less irritation.

I wouldn't suggest you jump all in a get a cut throat just yet

I don't use shaving cream sometimes (usually when I'm out) and I've never cut myself in my 6 years of shaving.

I'd say anything by Gillette. I got a free sample razor from them (the mach three when I turned 18 for some reason and the one with four blades and the other blade for some random reason a year ago). I like the one with four blades because it doesn't pull the hair as much when I let my stubble go from three days to about six (which is basically short beard length), it gives a smooth shave.

If you don't grow much facial hair, just use a cheapo multi-blade. If you're grizzled and wrestle bears as a wake-me-up, then consider one of them fancier contraptions.

I've tried alot of the popular gimmic razors out there, from two to three to four blades, and the best I've ever used is the Fusion. I thought it was going to be just another ridiculous gimmic but I haven't looked back since I started using it. It has the single blade on one side for close or precise shaving (as well as to increase the above mentioned "manliness" factor) and the four blades on the other for smooth and easy shaving. The quatro is garbage IMO. Also, I prefer a foaming gel.

Personally I have quite sensitive skin on my face, and wouldn't use anything other than a Mach 3 by Gillette.

It's got plenty of space between the blades so it doesn't clog and is easy to rinse clean, and it's not as abrasive as the Fusion type razors.

I tried a Quattro and HATED it. Those stupid foil things they put over the blades... I'd avoid anything with those on!
