My first 'phones: ATH-SJ5 initial impressions... by a newbie

Well, concerning their SQ, they aren't bad, but compaired to one "no-name" closed cans (Studioline), they aren't that much better I 'd expect.
EDIT: Well, it's not that they would sound bad, but I shouldn't have expected twice SQ for twice money (like compaired to my Shenns MX 50 street, great earbuds, even decent bass, if it's quiet around

)
I want to use them at home too and therefore I wouldn't go for AKGs (81DJ, K414P..), since they are too bassy..
Soon I'll test my friend's KPPs, just to know, but I don't want open and that small phones at all.
According to him my SJ5s have decent bass, but poor mids, well, I'm kinda confused.

I really enjoy listening to Radiohead, Sunshine, Chemical brothers, anything...
I bought them this October, but in December I had to have them repaired (jack - left side stopped working). But guess what, now the same problem is slowly coming back, geez!

So another 3 weeks for repair I suppose, and I can get my money back only after 3 repairs minimally, MB sooner, I'll ask at hotline.
But even if I could get money back, what other option I have? Looking for closed cans (for isolation, I don't want plugs), for outdoor use, compact, not bad looking... around 80 dollars...
Any idea? Thanks!

May not sport the most "luscious" interface(s) available... YES there are THEMES!!!

However, The PLAYBACK QUALITY of ROCKbox is PRETTY nice!!

(I _AM_ SPOILED tho...) I'm using it on an iRiver iHP-120 which is doing optical out to an iBasso D10 Amp/DAC (LMH6643 opamp & 2 Dummy Buffers)...

Sounds SWEET!!

WHICH, I mean, is THE POINT, right???

;-D
