tubes and ray stop this nonsense rite now and help me out on my battery issue with my RS product....

my hr-2 doesnt even have a place to put batteries.....I always look but I cant find the opening!

I found that if you unplug the hr2 from the outlet you get like 5 seconds of great sound....the only probelm is I need to move at the speed of light in order to leave my house and come back with power still in the amp...

All came good in the end though and it's nice to see a guy look after the end users of his product - Props to Ray!

But you think an idiot will read a manual? Well, I guess there could be an idiot's guide to installing batteries...

You don't even know!
Poor Ray.
He's helped me through all kinds of mayhem. All self-inflicted. He even sent me a new amp when there was nothing wrong w/ the first (he knew but did it to humor me). All this, he did with patience and compassion.
Can't find the battery compartment for my HR2 either but I haven't exhausted all possibilities with the Stealth!

The first thing that can be seen when opening the battery door is the + - signs.
Also the one thing you must check is the + - signs on the battery not hard at all.

If you're the normal paranoid anal compulsive type that frequents these boards, I can't see how you could ever insert the battery's incorrectly. However, a simple one-page instruction page sent out with the amp could be helpful when these amps fall into the wrong hands.

It would seem to me that generally the better practice before posting a thread that says "My [name of specific product] failed," is to contact the manufacturer and see what the problem is first, especially when it is one of the folks like Ray Samuels, Mikhail, etc. Otherwise, the "headline" exlaiming that the product "failed," stays and only if you read through the posts do you realize it is "operator error" (in this case.) It's sort of like the retraction is on page 5, and people may not read it. I have nothing to do with Ray Samuels by the way and don't own any of his products, but I just think the instinct to imediately post that something is not working is not always the best instinct.

Very well said, PhilS. My sentiments exactly.

I'd have to disagree. Everyone is so afraid of these God-like builders nowadays that a *paying* customer doesn't have the right to post a problem? Would you say the same to someone who said "My Accord broke down on the freeway"? No, of course not. Such rants and comments are quick ways to collect help and information from the public. Regardless if it's user error or not, the end result should be the same - resolution.

I don't think the OP ever said that the SR-71 is a bad product or Ray is a bad builder. He just said it failed. And that was the truth. It had. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you look at it) it was his fault.

I believe my post was a reasonable use of this list. I also believe that for $400 instructions would have been helpful and I am disappointed by Ray's reluctance to include them. I am not an idiot.

just fyi it isn't just ray. my friend (debatable if he's an idiot or not - yeah, i can see you trolling!) got his supermono, and the + and - indicators were even more confusing - instead of using "+" and "-" xin uses green and red. or is it red and green? suffice to say my friend got it wrong lol. at least ray uses "+" and "-" and are there if you know where to look for em. honestly, i don't think an instruction manual is needed - just a post-it that says "read the circuit board to see how to stick in the batts, and oh yeah the light will stay on even after the amp poots out."
