I woke up a couple days ago and it felt like there was water in my right ear. I've tried everything to get rid of this annoying sensation... tried chewing, yawning, blowing through pinched nostrils, sleeping on one side... nothing's worked. My hearing in that ear is fine however, as far as I can tell. I don't think it's earwax, since the sensation is different from when my ears are clogged from earwax.

My family doesn't have health insurance right now so I'd prefer not to go to a doctor. Just wondering if any of you have experienced something like this and know of a remedy.

Gentle q-tip, and see if it comes out wet? or for that matter check for any other colored liquids coming out.

If it doesnt get better within a few days, probably should hit up the doctor.

You can try irrigation, cos my ears went puff when I went swimming after a long time and it didnt clear till I bought the ear irrigation kit (the one with the big blue bulb) and used lukewarm/warm water. I did it twice and voila I could hear again.

Since there's no pain involved, I don't think it's an ear infection, but just in case, I would avoid irrigating the ear.
The wisest would be going to a GP to have a look at your ears. I think it's probably some earwax, not big enough to cause hearing loss, but probably moistened, hence causing the occlusion feeling. However don't take it for granted and have that ear checked by a professional. You could be developing an external ear canal infection and delaying its treatment would be way worse and more painful than the dr's fee.

Recently I have the sensation of pressure in one ear, it almost feels that I'm in a plane, except that I'm not. A couple of trips to specialist turned out that it is an allergic reaction and my nose/ear canal was swollen.

I'd get it checked up, and there are some things in life that you wished you acted earlier.
