But they're not flat. I've been using a beanie over my head for cushioning and so far so good, but perhaps an athletic headband would give me better cushioning without the warmth

I will look into the option. However, I don't think I'd be buying anything anytime soon due to the recession.

hm, the pads on my pair are not flattened at all and still it can get painful after extended listening sessions..... I do have a fairly large head though, 7 7/8 hat size or so...

the athletic headband solution does sound pretty good too.

You can try what cushioning does for you with a cap on while listening.

I wonder if Larry is still doing those CD3000 transplant mods.
