MX580 is now 30 bucks and AKG 317 is 40. It's 1 or the other.

I know people like the Senns-anyone own the AKG's?   AND, are the AKG's too big for buds?  Are they only a good fit for large ears?  It's a fantastic price 4 the AKG.

I can't remember reading any rave reviews about AKG earbuds -- fullsize phones, yeah, but not earbuds.  The Senn MX series is very good, if you like the more laid back Senn sound.  Nothing will jump right out at you, but they are very pleasing to listen to -- I've had the MX500, 660, 760 and newer 471.  I prefer them for falling asleep at night -- comfortable and smooth sound.

After listening to the 580s for about a month I definitely agree that they have no wow factor; nothing really spectacular about them. But if you are looking for budget buds they are a decent step up from stock and like the other poster said pleasant to listen to.

I had never heard of the 471, "engineered for a woman's ear".  Interesting and inexpensive. Compared to 580?  Save the $10 or dget the 580
