I recently tried optical out from my Cambridge 851N streamer to Pegasus and it sounds quite good. Even more analog sounding!

Agree.I also use the optical code from my Mac mini(2012).It has an optical out.No noise and nice sound.
I use the Audioquest Vodka optical code.What the code do you guys use?
Because I like optical so much I ordered the Wireworld Super Nova Toslink 1 metre.

Optical sound on my mobo MSI Z390 MPG Carbon Gaming Pro with Ugreen cable in too poor comparing to PPA v.3 + Ifi Defender (+ ifi iPower) + Neotech 1020. Just ordered Pink Faun USB bridge
Why stack up the boxes when you have a proper rack?
Because later my new audio switcher beside serving for two DAC has 3 short XLR cable. It' s convenient to handle them at top level under table without remote control

For HQPlayer, how much bit should be set considering linearity of Pegasus is so so as per ASR test by Wolf? I guess it's between 16-20 bit.
I have not used HQPlayer with Roon. Are they any good? Is it all about upsampling? As my streaming can do the upsampling do I still need to explore HQPlayer?

yes, very good to upsample to 1536khz by Pegasus R2R with NOS. I also use Daphile to stream to HQPlayer Embedded

Meet the problem with firmware upgrade (Win 10 Pro x64 21H1)
Put 32bit libusb0.dll ro the flash program folder, there is the error with 64bit driver
Instruction:
PEGASUS USB audio firmware upgrade:
Press NOS for 3~5 seconds, the 48K and 2x lights will be on; Then press NOS again, the DSD light will be on, and the USB light will flash.
Click "Update USB MCU.bat" to upgrade, when the following screenshot appears, it means that the firmware upgrade is successful, please press any key to exit and power cycle the DAC.

I havn't HiRes Audio F-20 device, I have "Musician Pagasus DAC" with original drivers. Working properly. I have no libusb0.dll in amd64 folder, another one version attached. Driver check turned off
