MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

they have shipped my epads out already. it's amazing what $89 will buy. or is it?

just saw this:
"IMO, adding the E stat pads, while expanding the soundstage, also add brightness to the top end. That is my impression, running through a Hugo and LC".

not surprised and i bet it's so. so far every pad swap i've tried (granted only two: one on a pair of th900's and one on audeze sine's, lost more than it gained to my taste. just today i reverted to original pads on the sine and was thrilled with the results. so, i'm probably silly to have spent money on the epads, but i have to try em, as the ether flow's are my favorite cans ever and i plan to finish growing old with them as my main pair.

That sounds perfect! How worthwhile are the pads in your opinion?
I'm using them right now, and I won't say everyone will prefer them, but IMO they're worthwhile in that they do provide a different signature from the stock pads, and it's kind of cool to get that from one set of headphones.

I have the same setup (Hugo+LC2) and bright top end is just what I hate.
But obviously I will end up buying a pair of Epads very soon, just for the fun of exploring new tunings...

I bought a pair of the E pads to try based on all the comments here.
It is true, they change the sound to provide a different flavor. Yes, they make the Flow C brighter which Inpersoanlly did not like. I prefer the stock pads or I like Zac's Omni pads too. I guess is all matter of individual preference.

Please tell more about the Omni pads! Are they dealer sold or special order? Do you have to modify to fit the Flow? I always like to play with mods when I can do it for under $100! Thanks!

You can just order them from Zac' website ZMF headphones. I think they are $60 and need no mods. They fit fine.

The Stat pads have a very large ear hole, and position can and will change the tone. When the phones are pushed a bit toward the back of your head they will be brighter, when you move the phones forward so the back of your ears lightly touch the pads, the phones will tend to be a bit darker. That is my preferred placement. Placement is less fussy on the 'stats themselves because the driver is huge, much larger than the ear, so the effect of position is reduced.

Door seal with adhesive backing.

Left pad has no spacer. The right does. It is hard to see but the right sits higher and seems more solid.

Right pad turned inside out.

I had another go with the electro static pads on my Ether Flows.

This time I decided to install with a spacer between the pads and the fabric.

I turned the pads inside out. Then ran a foam door seal product around the pad edge. The foam product has an adhesive backing. Then I turned the pad the right way in and installed. Comfort went way better. The fabric doesn't touch my ears now. I had pics but this site has changed and pics are hard to post. Edit: I think I got some up now.

Mr Speakers should make a slip in spacer to do the same thing. Audeze made a version of this for the LCD-3 when the fazor version came out as the fazor grill stuck out.

I'm still getting the squeaky issue. I've got to keep my head very still when using. Any turn squeaks in your ear. I'm hoping that might settle with wear in.

The sound is great with these pads. Reminds me a lot f the HE1Km2.

In case you were wondering I was using this as a workbench.

Decided to experiment myself with the electrostatic pads. Slipped a layer of thin speaker fabric cut to slip into the ear piece over the existing fabric, and voila, the brightness reduced and I still get the great soundstage. Just have to figure out how to permanently attach the fabric.

Since it seems impossible to search this thread, can anyone comment how the Master 11 NOS V2 does with the Ether Flow? thanks! I'm still torn between the Ether and HD800S for classical and Jazz

Hello, I have a similar question to @Quinto, but for a reference sound. Which would be a better reference sound to compliment my Z1Rs? The ether flow/ flow c or the hd800/800s?

Thanks

I want to buy the HD800S or Ether Flow to pair with my Master 11 and was fishing for some knowledgeable- or just any opinions, sorry I wasn't more clear
