I know, I know, we don't want to confuse the foam upgrade pads and the white felt under pad and the white felt tuning pad and the black tuning pad and the ear pad.
They are ALL modding parts. Even the ear pad is a moddable part if you ask me. There is really not much to get confused about. When you hold the Headphones with the moddable parts in your hands a semi-intelligent person will figure the whole modding thing out in under 30 seconds.

You do realize there have been multiple posts asking if the "tuning pads" need the removal of the ear pad, not even talking about the "upgrade foam". We can go in circles about semantics. I think a label for what each thing does will benefit those seeking answers is all.

Posts about the pads did effectively confuse me, but when my Ethers arrived, things cleared up in seconds after watching mrspeaker's Youtube instructions.
Speaking of pads, does anyone know if the order matters with the 1.1 foam? It seems to "splay" the sound more so I was curious if placing a black pad under it would be different than putting it over it.

I'm using velour pads from my Pioneer HRM7s which fit the Ether C perfectly. 2 pair come with the headphone, don't know if Pioneer sells the pads separately:
