So, since this one is only 44.1khz, not the higher resolution I'm paying 2x as much for compared to everyone else so that Jay-z can save money on bandwidth by not using any more, it doesn't sound wrong.

That's reality and the state of the world. If you're still a bunch of dots, people don't care about you enough.

That's how you'll know you've made it on the internet. You'll look and sound like a dot, and people will be talking about how they can't tell that's not what you originally were.

It's the digital audio guy compression blues.
Qobuz is coming to Canada next month, it doesn't mess around with mqa, it's cheaper, and is the other one that works in Audirvana, which is really what it needs to not sound bad.

Nobody knows how to make the chip that plays digital back properly yet.
I have heard an old windup 78 turntable with a horn. People haven't sounded alive since electricity. You can buy one and listen to ghosts.

This is the internet equivalent of your cat dumping a dead mouse on your doorstep as a gift.

Ah, I seem to have found a sentence that makes sense! Unfortunately, although it makes sense, it’s actually wrong.

One step at at time though, maybe after a couple more pages you’ll post something that both makes sense AND is correct? Or maybe castleofargh will delete the thread before you get there? I’m excited to see which happens first!

Your link to Tyll's articles is broken. They made a mess of the site after he left. I have a better link somewhere but I can't find it now.

Well, on the one hand he is right that MQA is a scam and it would be better not to have a single dime of your money going that way.
On the other hand: there is nothing wrong with 44.1 kHz sampling rate (normal 44.1 without the MQA nonsense I mean), it is audibly perfect. If you think otherwise it is either because you are comparing different masters rather than different formats, or because you didn't do a proper test minimizing biases.

Yup, if you're paying double for the hirez Tidal plan, and a 44.1khz track is playing, no worries, it won't sound broken.
Maybe I'll sell gear with another chip in it that makes people go to qobuz, so that they can hear high res better. I'll call it a galvanically isolated chip, too.
Has anyone tried gear with 4 mqa chips first, 2 of them phase reversed, to see if it works better?
If you like how extra mqa chips in your gear first sound, though, you could try implanting another one in your forehead, so that you can finally hear high rez everywhere you go, without a dac. It won't be snake oil, either, you'll be able to tell.
The funny thing is, most artists probably think their stuff sounds more right than anyone else's no matter what you're playing it on. Unless they're classical musicians, in which case they probably think people should be shot for stuff all the time.
I'm going to sell forehead chip implants to the audio world so that some people can find out what sounds natural.
Let's also keep in mind that this extra chip, even if it miraculously performs so well that you can't even tell it's there, is on top of already paying double so that he saves money on bandwidth, you only need to buy new gear that has to have it to make your feature you're already paying double work. He should introduce a plan where he charges double again and makes you buy 2 chip gear to save even more money on bandwidth without even having to use more to get it to work.
If anyone ever does figure out a way that an extra chip can invisibly save bandwidth, wouldn't it be better on the transport, and not your dac?
Let’s also not forget what your probably not even the fastest internet connection thinks of the data rate of audio streaming.
Oh man, is Jay-z ever lucky I’m not one of his fans. Paying double for the high frequency noise if you buy the gear with the chip without him using any extra bandwidth plan? Imagine if there was a guy who owned a pitbull arena that listened to Jay-z and got that plan?
It's exactly what people need, a forehead chip implant that makes them pay twice as much for a streaming service so that streamers can save money by not streaming more. All the streamers will sign up for it for sure. Imagine if you could get youtube into that?
Jay-z's mission is to encourage people to trade in anything they can listen to him on for the reason they should be all right with him.

That's what Jay-z is working on, as a drug dealer with a side-gig as a rapper; making noise to get us to trade anything we can play him on for 5 minutes of what it would have been like listening to someone else.
Those guys should say their phone numbers in their tracks.
Have you listened to high rez on crack yet? It will be better than your gear sounds without it.
