Moving from wireless to wired

Hello!

first time posting, thanks for having me

currently using the Astro A50 gen 3 on my PS5 / PC and would very much like to go for an upgrade and get wired closed back but I have no idea where to start.

I mainly play FPS games with the odd single player game every now and again so I would be looking for something that’s good with FPS.

im not after a gaming headset, I would happy have a normal headset and add a vmodaboom or a mod mic to it.

was also toying with getting a dac with an optical out so I could look at getting audio from my PS5 via an audio extractor then use the headset to chat on discord pc. Would A mixer be usful?

i have a budget for around £250-300 for the headset and will buy what ever else maybe required at a later date.

They're open back, but if you are in an area without too much background noise they are preferable; open backs usually have a wider sound stage and more accurate positioning than closed backs.

Open-backs are preferred by many gamers for more precise locating, but you do need a decent discrete headphone amp for that. If you prefer closed-back, look at this one:
