I think one of the most informative threads is the Headphone of the Year Awards 2003

You weren't kidding! That was quite the lengthy commentary; 27,216 words in one post!

I think the most informative one is the portable PCDP review thread by duncan, it's stickied too. I mean, i'm not into PCDPs anymore, but if i was, this is where i would go - it's so good you wish he would just cover every PCDP made in history lol. great approach to comparative reviews, it should be a benchmark for how informative ones should be done.

yeah that darth nut post made my head spin when i first read it. and even after owning a STAX i still don't get all of it. therefore, it's not the most informative for my dulled brain power and senses

Excellent choice! I also learned from the long pcdp review and the fungus headphone thread.
There is also a lot of great tube-lore from Hirsch, but that got spread out some. Perhaps his Zotl rolling thread is best...

It's probably blasphemy, but I believe I learned much more valuable information from the pit known as CI than from the actually-useful threads. While it may not seem logical, it is in fact improbably logical, therefore a .20952% chance exists of it being the supreme question, and therefore winning out over all other threads even though it's a nonexistant section of space...occupied by nothing but yet existing.
All in all, it's the borg.
Okay, after searching around...this is the most informitive thread on Head-Fi, it solves every question ever.
Actually...if you search for the threads I've posted in since the beginning, they're the good ones, all else not need be looked into

That one was certainly memorable... I remembered it immediately upon seeing it, even though I've never owned Stax. I don't hear exactly the way Darth Nut does, but full respect out to 'im!

I know it's not supremely informative or anything, but I got a laugh out of this thread: http://www6.head-fi.org/forum/showthread.php?t=51926
and this post was doubly amusing: http://www6.head-fi.org/forum/showpo...1&postcount=12
and for the logo at the top: http://www6.head-fi.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52097

Well I dont have a STAX, but I was completely enthralled by the review and read the whole thing through and made sure I understood exactly what he was talking about. I was absolutely mind boggled, he was able to put alot of things to words which I failed to describe as well as introduce new things to me.
For me that review is the hands down winner.

Adhoc´s 6SN7 Reference Thread for one.
That enormous amount of work he has put into that has resulted in a gold mine for 6SN7 users. Those tubes are expensive enough nowadays and some friendly and honest feedback on the sonic signature of different brands, models and years can only be considered a huge favour and a must-read for 6SN7 tuberollers.

Adding to the threads and reviews already mentioned (with darth nut's review being the winner for me in terms of reading pleasure and Duncan's review for its plethora of information), I also want to nominate rickcr42's DIY Links Resource. This is much more than just DIY-related information.
The recent thread on balanced amps in the amp forum was also highly interesting and as far as I know the first thread to cover this issue more than superficially. Link
I also loved reading the witty discussions on frequency responses with contributions by halcyon, gerG, j-curve and others. Here's one.
Not to forget the countless Scotch, kitchen knives, Beethoven symphonies, and many more interesting threads in the members lounge and music forum.
Great were also the PPA, M3 and other project threads in the DIY forum. Having people openly submit their amp designs to the community for free and even providing help in the building process, I think that's what separates a headphone community from a mere forum. Very shrewd discussions, too.
