more comfortable? K701 or HD650

If you can solve the problem of that bump in the middle of the K701's headband, it wins. Otherwise, the HD650 has it.

X 2

That bump felt very uncomfortable on my head within seconds of putting on the 701's. The HD650s (with the headband stretched out) are some of the most comfortable headphones out there, IMO.

Indeed. I know it's off-topic to mention the Denon here, but I just think it's so extraordinarily comfortable that it deserves mention. I think it's one of the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn.

I only tried them for a couple of minutes in a hi-fi audio shop. For the first try, I would have to say the K701 won. Maybe it was because of the 650's clamp. I guess I would go with the others' advice that eventually, the 650 wins (after "break-in" - not of the drivers, but of the rest of the headphone).

EDIT: I never tried the K701's at the HF2 meet, because I didn't see many of them around (maybe three or four total?). I saw 650's everywhere (and listened to them!

Initially, the HD 650's will clamp like hell, making them extremely uncomfortable. As you wear them more often, however, the clamp will dissipate, and in this state they are ultimately more comfortable than the K701's.

Same here, tho the 650 isn't quite there yet. I have them stretched on a glass mannequin head right now. I hope this doesn't squash the pads in the process.

I think the HD600&650 are slightly more comfortable and certainly less goofy-looking than the K701s. But the 701s sound better enough to me to make up for it! I'd like to get a pair of 650s for nighttime listening because the K701s are impossible to wear in bed.

HD650, the K701 was pretty big even though there was no clamp force it didn't fit as well on the head as the HD650 which was snug but a good snug feeling instead of a lose big feeling of the K701.

The K701 felt a little big for my head and tended to slide around when I did quick turns. Once you pass the HD650 clamping stage, it will be your best friend!

Are the Denon D2000 open or closed, they looked to be closed?

Does the K601 have the same bump as the 701?
