The simplest explanation is that the Kato is bass-light compared to the other IEMs you were used to. Try using them for one consecutive week and then go back to your other IEMs to see if you still don't like it.Currently, while testing things at my desktop, switching between 2 diy mutlibit DACs amped by Cayin HA-2i and an iFi ieMatch+, but the intention is to use with Cayin RU6.

Thanks, I have Spring tips for two weeks, L and M, but didn't try them with S8 yet. They smooth trebles quite hard, maybe remove resonance as the Moondrop claims.I also have gotten recently the S8. Have you tried the Spring tips? It's the most spacious sounding tips that I have tried with the S8.
I like them with KXXS, not much with Starfield.
These tips have the greatest impact on trebles between silicone tips I tried. I think I would love them a few years ago, but now I require clean and pronounced heights...

Don't believe the hype on the IFI match. It lowers damping factor. You can't do what they say with a resistor bridge.Currently, while testing things at my desktop, switching between 2 diy mutlibit DACs amped by Cayin HA-2i and an iFi ieMatch+, but the intention is to use with Cayin RU6.
This should affect the lows? I've had a quick compare session and was able to catch a subtle difference, but it was so subtle I am not sure it exists. It lowers damping factor. You can't do what they say with a resistor bridge.

Can you share more info? Is this going to be competing in the 200usd- category or is this more of a "planar flagship" which would be 300usd+?
I recently bought the blessing 2 dusk and I'm paranoid this new planar is going to be a direct upgrade from the dusks.

It may have little to no adverse effect depending on load but it lowers the effective damping factor. This should affect the lows? I was able to catch a subtle difference, but it was so subtle I am not sure it exists.
The problem here is that other IEMs sound "cheap" after Kato, and I don't need a week to figure this out, so hard to go back.Try using them for one consecutive week and then go back to your other IEMs to see if you still don't like it.
I've applied some EQ and am pretty happy with the sound just now. The problem is I'll need a source with a parametric EQ to enjoy them this way...
I come from the world of speakers and in that world SS amps have damping factor (DF) measuring in tens and hundreds (sometimes even thousands), yet I have found tube amps with DF of 12 and less sound much better. To my ears and overall . Considering that I don't mind lowering the DF.It may have little to no adverse effect depending on load but it lowers the effective damping factor.

iFi ieMatch+
If I may ask, how does it work for you with that Cayin?

check with shenzhenaudio, their filter was different.@MOONDROP Hi, I want to order some filters for Kato. The ones for Aria look similar to the filters on the nozzle. Is that what I should get?

Got my Chu. Mainly ordered a pair to get the spring tips and maybe quickly give what's supposed to be a truly "neutral" IEM a try, expecting to hate it since I like a good amount of warmth and thickness, but they don't sound too bad, actually. Highly doubt they're going to be in the active rotation, but I'm definitely not throwing them away or anything like that, could see myself occasionally wanting a sound like this over the warmer stuff.
They're also stupidly comfortable, like holy crap. Absolutely disappear in my ears.

Would you be able to recommend some IEM models that match this requirement (any brand)?since I like a good amount of warmth and thickness
