Thanks, I agree that it would be hard to beat out the vega, hm I suppose there is no online retailer for the moon 430ha and would have to search local retailers

Nothing better than your ears to make the decision with :¬)

Bass is getting tighter now. It does indeed bloom for a while.

I've started to use the iFi iUSB Power (with gemini cable) too, so that may be adding to the effect. It's most certainly cleaner.

The dac section has had a good burn in and continues to improve. It's incredibly revealing but still musical. I'm still blown away by how good it sounds. It punches way above its price point.

Did you get the chance to A/B the dac section, or test USB vs analogue input on the unit? Your ears have far more hours/experience than mine :¬)

longbowbbs,

I'm using MYTEK DIGITAL Stereo 192-DSD DAC for hp listening and already own a pre-amp, Audio Research REF5 SE.
Hp in my "stable" HE-560, HE-500, Senn 650 and V-Moda M100 (for general listening). Future LCD3'f or HE-1000.

Does the cross feed on the 430HA make any difference?

I did A/B the DAC vs my Wyred 4 Sound DAC2 DSDse. It was close but the W4S had more clarity and smooth decay. The internal was excellent though. I have used it with USB,analog and balanced inputs. All were excellent.

If I had a ref 5 se I would not use this as a pre-amp!

I would expect the Mytek to pair well with the 430. Though I would also expect the internal DAC card to give the Mytek a good run for the money. I am using an LCD-X and  Alpha Primes' with it and they are working beautifully. So I would expect the 560 to work well. All m y Sennheisers love the 430. I have not had a bad pairing yet.

  COOL

Judging by your forum name/handle, you must be enjoying yourself...

The 430 + Abyss is simply sublime for rock music :¬)

AC/DC (Live) is playing right now over here, and it's next level stuff indeed.
