The biggest difference between the two in in the imaging. Comparing the two, the M1070 is more L/R biased in placement, where the M1570 gives you that full sphere of placement. Another difference is in the vocals. The M1570 renders vocals very naturally and realistically, and I can easily imagine the vocalist just off to the side of me singing. Never had that experience with the M1070. Remember the M1570 have larger drivers, both are the same diameter, but the M1570 drivers are circular, with the M1070 rectangular. The M1570 also have more magnets.

Over on the M1570 thread we got into comparing the M1570 with the HE6se v2, to give you an idea how high above it's price those hit.

The lowest price on the M1570 I've seen is $331

Good to know. I still have some time before my 30-day return window runs out, so I will keep that in mind.

So, I just dug out of my storage area a Sansui 7-band graphic EQ from the Pleistocene Era that (just for grins) I want to throw into my signal chain to see if I can tweak the M1070's a bit. The specific frequencies I can control are 60, 150, 400, 1kHz, 2.4kHz, 6kHz, and 15kHz.

Are any of those frequencies near where people have had some success EQ'ing the 1070's?

Thanks!

Colleague with 3D printer made me grills, and I used some organza material to make dust protection. Afterwards I listened and tried to move the old damping material in front of grills, it seemed to make sound boomier.
With quite heavy EQ and less restricting material behind rear grills these sound good enough for me.
I just need to get new screws and work on polishing the grill for better looks.

Looking for a recommendation for a balanced cable for the M1070. I ordered one off of Amazon but the cable didn't work with it, no sound. (Was listed compatible with HE400i) If you know of one that is working with your M1070, I'd appreciate knowing what it is.

I took the stock cable - cut off the 3.5mm TRS plug, and soldered on a 2.5mm TRRS plug. Works fine.

Just installed eqMac and using the M1570 settings - what a nice improvement! Gives the M1070's a little more "air" in the upper frequencies, which was the one thing I thought they were missing.

I am sure there are better headphones out there, but for $175 I am really happy with these.

I am using Openheart cable, 4.4 to 3.5, listed as compatible with HifiMan. Works well for me.
Found an Openheart alternate source on Amazon (same cable but different branding) tried their stereo 3.5mm version and it did not work. Got the 3.5mm mono version and works fine.

In case someone needs an affordable balanced cable for their M1070. Using the M1070 on my Liquid Platinum, damn... sounds so good.

Bought a pair of these a few weeks back and am liking them a lot. I was getting tired of the pads rotating so easily so I got one of those plastic clips that are used to keep bread bags closed, cut it in half, and slipped each piece between the pad and the plastic and the pads no longer rotate easily.

What's the expiry date on that solution?
