Bass is much more pleasant to me on the trio given the DD, although the S8f has good bass for an all BA set, that's a total personal preference thing... Honestly the bass is the best aspect of the trio.

They're both quite large and fit about the same. The S8f has clearer mids and smoother vocals. Treble is similar but the ESTs do create a "floating in the air" effect not quite present on the BAs in the S8f although I'd give separation to the s8f. The S8f is more detailed with the stock tuning than the trio but you can EQ/DSP that to be equivalent.

The trio is more power hungry then the S8f by a good margin.

Yeah, the ESTs need a good match and power to wake them up. I don't recommend this set for people who don't have powerful amps or listen at low or moderate volumes. This is a set best lit up loud.

Thanks for your impressions! I was considering the Mofasest Trio as a possible future purchase, but I don't have any amps/sources.

I just got both mofa trio and S8z and I agree with that comparison between the two. Of the two, I feel like the tips on S8Z is more protruded, making it fit deeper, which makes better seal.
I would think that the Mofa Trio and the S8z make for a very complementary duo. Now, you just need a midrange specialist like the Penon Orb or Mangird Tea . JK, you don’t “need” any other IEMs.

I thought so too! The two are very good on its own, but also quite different from another. Ugh, dont give me ideas, I am trying my best to not look into sale section.

Btw, now I am curious, is there an iem that is as good as trio and s8z combined? Do we have to cross $1500 region to get something like that?

Hey folks! The honeymoon phase is well over with my M.Trio's and I have to say these things are incredible and fun as heck. Put some Spinfit 100's and a good OCC copper litz cable, and it makes for a very capable and fun sound sig. The stock cable and tips are pretty meh, and don't do the Trio's any justice, by the way. I have said this before and I will say it again, the transparency (detail), cohesion and tonality are every bit as good as my Noble K10U, and that speaks volumes for the value of the Trio's. The soundstage, subbass, and vocals are stellar with the Trio, and it really sounds as if you are there with the musicians, using them with my iBasso DX160 on high gain. I listen to a lot of acoustic stuff, sparsely recorderd chill electronica, and rock and they accell in all those genres perfectly for my taste. I am a basshead first and foremost and then it is all about the vocals, followed by a good sound stage and the Trio never let me down. They have some of the best subbass I have heard, and the highs are sweet and extended but never ever harsh. There has been some talk about recessed mids, and I can confirm with the Spinfits tips and OCC copper litz cabIe, that could not be further from the truth. The Trio are mild V tuned very well, and I just wanted to check in and give this thread a bump, for a killer pair of iems.

the LZ A7 are better than the Mofastest Trio. The Trio have rolled off treble, that's very laid back, and that affects their ability to present details to the best of their ability. If only they would have tuned the highs more expertly, they would be "game enders", but alas, it was not meant to be. I know a ton of folks like the laid back polite treble, but it's not my preferred signature. LZ A7 are masterful in all facets.

Having tried 4 different quality cables (Silver, SPC, Copper, & Palladium Plated Silver) that's exactly what that cable does. The treble is there too, and I wouldn't want any more.

LZ A7 is on my list for 11.11. LZ is known for soundstage, so it gets my attention. I hope that A7 has tuning with more polite treble similar to Trio.

Trio treble is not rolled off. The problem is that the prominent lower treble creates masking effect and "blinds" hearing preventing from getting its extended but recessed end.
I cured it with improvised foam sound filters that I put inside silicone tips. Well, it works for Sony, so no surprise here. Foam is more effective than cable in correcting excessive pinna gain, especially if it also has some peaks in it. Will see if A7 ends up better than modded Trio.

I am 100% sure the trebles are there in your set.
Very familiar w/ the excellent tuning of the 160.

Could you share some images of your mod? Thanks
I'm probably one of those ear tips modders here.
Before the silicon w/ foam composite tips became popular, i made a simple mod. putting in comply foams in the cavities of those silicon tips for my W50s. These are obviously very rolled off trebles & i wanted to achieve the most treble output.
I had moderate success, due to the best seal during that time (2018)

Yep. The source makes a difference as well. The DX160 is a great pairing with the M.Trio, along with the cable, and tips. I am sure as I get older and my hearing starts going, I will want more treble eventually.

This thread suddenly went Dark. No more love for Mofasest? I recently picked up a pair of Kinera Mount Nanna 2.0 and they are pretty sweet. I've been contemplating another EST tribrid and stumbled on this forum thread. I actually have the Tri Starlights on order but won't have them for another week or so. Is there anyone who might be able to compare the Mofasest Trio with either the Tri Starsea or Kinera Nanna IEMs?

I'm still using my Trio in rotation with the five sets I acquired since - their forte is being able to handle any amount of amping without distortion.
Additionally they convey a sense of being at a live concert - having a very unique stage. Can't compare the other two pairs, but they're on a different sonic level to the Tri-i3.
