How to change your Walkman to Japanese Region and also Uncap at the same time

remember to restart after successfully change your Region

create a new folder named “Tool”

Download this Tool for Windows
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zxfbibs689ma3yq/scsitool-nwz-v25.exe?dl=0

Then this one
https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/pub/Main/SonyNWDestTool/open_cmd_here.bat

Then move both of those files into folder “Tool”

Then rename your “Scsitool-next-v25” into “scsitool-nwz-vX”

Then open the folder up and run this “open_cmd_here”. You will open command prompt

Then you will copy “scsitool-nwz-vX.exe H: dest_tool set J off” Please Pay Attention that your “H:” should be what your Walkman is shown on your windows. Mine show up as “D:” .

Then Paste this command into the command prompt windows and hit “enter”

You will see Successful messages

To make sure, you can check it by running this next command by copy and paste “scsitool-nwz-vX.exe H: dest_tool get”. Remember to change “H:”

Please copy only the line within “xxx” and not the “ “ itself
Here is the Mod from page 11, put it here for myself and others' convenience.

So what's the scoop on the Solis t5 only FW? Thanks!

So yesterday I installed Solis on my stock WM1A after using D1.02 since last weekend. i think I’m going to go and try Tier 1 Jupiter as I think maybe I’m experiencing slight distortion on vocals (sound a bit hot) occasionally with Solis I’m guessing due to the stock set up

I found that Solis is proving so much more information that you can turn down the volume to hear what you had been hearing previously. Once I did that, the hot high end was reduced.

I’m thinking of going back and giving it more time. Less than a day isn’t enough. And I’m thinking it could be flaws inherent in the original recording/mastering

Hi all,

I am trying to understand how to install those fw s. Can you confirm me if I understood correct,

1- I have 3.02 installed on my WM1A,
2- First, I will change region to Japan
3- Since my 1A is a EU device, I will install EU version of Solis via Media Go software as new firmware, (Device language is in English)
4- I will restart the device and that is all.

Is there anything else to be careful for?

Thanks,

A lot of words salad. Do you want me to compose a lot of words salad and bring my firmware down from $2700 to $1900 for a discount ?

After all, you follow performances and not specifications right ?

Cables can’t be as real as my firmware ;) LOL

I am done teasing you, do with what you must, and enjoy the sound. That is the core of this hobby.

Just received a WM1A with the Kmod Ultimate and have been listening back to back with my stock WM1A.

I have to say I was staggered by the obvious difference in sound that the Kmod made.

Sound is alot fuller, deeper with more impact.

Hopefully it passes the test of hours long listening sessions without making my head ring. I have a feeling it will be just fine.

They say Kmod 1A is faster than Kmod 1Z, while Kmod 1Z dives deeper, with a tad larger staging.
Both referring to Ultimate level.

Hi everyone,

Stumbled upon this thread recently!

@Whitigir great to see you here my friend. You've already done great things for the iBasso community, and I know you're a fan of Sony, so I might have guessed you'd be blazing a trail on here too :)

I hardly know where to begin..
I've been flicking through pages and pages on this thread and the main Sony WM1Z/A thread, and it's pretty overwhelming.
My understanding is that there seem to be 2 or 3 kinds of mods:

1) changing some setting on the player to do with the region, as Sony have provided different tunings for different regions?

2) Seems @Morbideath and @Whitigir have been also creating custom firmwares for Sony DAPs as well?
Is there anywhere a list that summarises the FW's available and the sound signatures each offers?

3) Hardware mods. I'm aware of the K-mods available. And a guy called Dino in HK said he could mod my ZX300.
But @Whitigir (or anyone else here); have you created any mod templates yourself (like you did with DX220), and is there anyone who can do hardware mods for a guy (me) in London, UK? @Nayparm ? :)
Am happy to post it globally, but of course a local modder is more convenient for both of us I suppose :)

Anyway, that's all. Hope some nice people could help me out.
Right now, I have a Sony ZX300 (bought on here, so not sure what region or how to find out?). If this all goes well, will probably look to get a WM1Z too a bit later!
I almost bought one, but after a brief demo, whilst it sounded great, I already own the Lotoo Paw Gold Touch, and felt that the WM1Z didn't offer a sound that was significantly better enough to make me want/need to have both. But that was only based on a brief demo, and these mods might change all that though :)

Many thanks :)
