I'm wondering if anyone has any experience driving the double sided with a Burson Soloist 3XGT?
I'm trying to find a buyer for my LCD4 to switch to a double sided Tungsten but want to know if the Burson has enough power to drive it.

How thick are the Tungsten's earpads? Are they the thickness of the Caldera thick pads or the Caldera "standard" pads? Thanks!

The review by goldwerger here has pictures that show the size pretty well.

I can confirm they are standard Caldera pad thickness. They are standard Caldera pads with a different configuration of perforations and materials. How thick are the Tungsten's earpads? Are they the thickness of the Caldera thick pads or the Caldera "standard" pads? Thanks!

The Caldera pads we use have perforations on the top and outside for the Caldera, while the Caldera pads for tungsten are perforated on the top and inside with a solid outside. I haven't tried it, but I'd imagine the regular Caldera pads may not work as well to the desired tuning because of that airflow change.I wonder caldera thick how the sounding with tungsten.

Thanks for the replies and confirmation! Any chance of thick versions of the tungsten style caldera pads in the future? The Caldera pads we use have perforations on the top and outside for the Caldera, while the Caldera pads for tungsten are perforated on the top and inside with a solid outside. Definitely a question for mod house as we are the creator of the Caldera Pad design but we have no stake in the inventory or design of the Tungsten. Thanks for the replies and confirmation! Any chance of thick versions of the tungsten style caldera pads in the future?

Here are a few recommendations around your budget:
- Aegis - if you'd be open to a tube amp, this would be my top recommendation - you can build at cost of material of ~$2k or you can put a request in the Aegis thread to see if someone would build one for you (I'd venture a guess likely for ~$4k)
- Violetctic V281 - you can buy a new one for $2.7k (limited reissue: https://power-holdings-inc.com/Violectric-HPA-V281-Reissue-Headphone-Amp-p585718067)
- CFA3 - you can get one custom build around $3k depending on your choices (best you can get it from is @Dukei ). You can also order one from the upcoming commerical release of Headamp. I don't think they have locked final price or release date, but afaik it's supposed to be in the $3-4k range. There are also plenty available on the classifieds in the $2k range (just make sure it's from a reputable builder)
- Ferrum Orr - if you get amp only it's $2k and if you get it with the Hypsos power supply then $3.2k
- Well Milo - bunch of upgrade options here so this ranges from $1.7k to $5k depending what you choose, but for $3k you can get a kick ass version
