I have also been wondering this for a while! No idea why only those sets of pads except maybe he didn't have a chance to try the leather for some reason?

Also his full EQ applied on Empy makes it sound hollow and trash haha. Gives a starting point to majorally adjust your own values though, so it is useful
awesome! thanks for the insight. yeah, I'm in the market for something TOTL that isn't neutral and has that sub-bass/bass slam. Was looking at the LCD-4, but it seems that is also a very neutral can. RAD-0, D8000 and LCD-3 are in my view now. I have a Utopia/Empy/ and a ZMF Verite on the way. Would like a planar to round things out.
@dmdm : may i ask if your LCD4s were painful to wear because of the clamping pressure? or is it its weight? or is it something else please? very curious.
i use the Empyreans and they are super comfy, as we all know on this thread! thank you.
Newer lcd 3f are more much more neutral than older lcd3. In any case bass in lcd3f is awesome This is the only thing i miss having Empys, but they are not that far away with the right amp
An interesting listening session this afternoon, Empyrean is still the most enjoyable, romantic, holographic and also very technically capable among these!
Yes I have. They are very good. Leaner for sure. More detail on them, but won't be by much. Build is decent, but still Hifiman. Buy with warranty if you can!
I have both. They are two different headphones. The hekse is a detail king. Its crisp, airy with wide, open sound stage. The empy is more intimate, with recessed mids but much more dynamic high and low end. They are both extremely light and comfortable.
