Now it is obvious that you have a vision that applies to all your headphones.
My take is the same for Rai penta that I am currently reviewing for our next issue.

BTW
Excellent explanation of amplification needs.

In the meantime I am preparing a review of Feliks Audio Euforia with Empyrean as the main headphone.
It is going to be very interesting.

Now just waiting on the empys...

Just arrived!

A Bryston Suite? I was a Bryston guy when I spend most of my time with my speaker systems, the original 4B without ST, :beerchug:

You are building up a very impressive headphone collection around your Benchmark and Bryston system, are you selecting headphones with different sound signature, to compliment each other instead of completing against each other? I bet everyone are waiting for your impression and comparison on your classic/TOTL headphones. I am looking forward to that too.

By the way, talking about complementing headphones, have you considered the RAAL SR1a? Its completely different from Empyrean but not a choice available to most headfier because of the unique driving requirement of the SR1a. However your 4BSST2 should serve the purpose.

Well, we truly believe in that principle and therefore we see it through. We are working very hard to maximize the technicality of music playback with minimum compromise on musicality, which mean musicality is the priority.

Interesting, please share your review link with us when you publish your Feliks Euforia with Empyrean, looking forwards to ...

Thank you! Yes you are right, it's not a competition but for them all to complement each other. The empys are my favorite though! I really like Bryston gear and the bha1 sounds incredible with your headphones.

You can take a suede cloth (for glasses) to cover the second one.

The TCs sure are ugly but the sound should really be something.
the TC is a lot more work and more difficult to get properly fitted ...the empyrean are dramatically easier to wear, comfortable and a work of art and also not in the same league as the TC sound wise....I owned the empyrean briefly

Starting your HeadFi forum adventure with a dramatic announcement? Fantastic, and we are looking forward to your unboxing and impression. :beerchug:

The Empyrean Sound is really special, even at low Volume they are very engaging.

Finally listening on my Empyreans and I gotta say I'm loving them. I feel like I can raise the volume on these without hurting my ears like I do on my Utopias, not to mention the supreme comfort.

I need more time but great first impression.

I like the non fatiguing nature of the empyreans too.

So the Empyrean is enjoyable at both low and high volume. :beerchug:

For those who have been in this hobby long enough will feel for these problems. Unlike speakers, you need to turn up the volume to feel the punch and excitement of your headphones, but then you get fatigue quite easily, so the excitement won't last very long. Being able to enjoy your Empyrean at both low and high volume certainly enhance the listening experience, make it fit for different moods and environment.

Ohhhh I might get my Empy's sooner than Wednesday! Package arrived in Los Angeles and it usually takes 2 days for ground shipping up north in California except this is DHL Express so it will likely get flown.

Day 1: Romania - Hungary - Germany
Day 2: Germany - UK
Day 3: UK to Los Angeles

Would be nice if I could travel like that too!

Smsl sp200 888 thx with the empys?

Anyone know how the spl phonitor mini is with the empys?

Thank you for picking our Empyrean as your favorite, we hope the Empyrean will become your long term favorite after you have tried all the target headphones in your list.

Since you have a first class solid-state setup already, if you plan to add another headphone amplifier to your system, maybe you can consider a tube headphone amplifier, that will give your more flexibility in mix and match within your own system.

Low powered tube amplifier might have limited choice of speaker to pair with, but in the case of headphone applications, even low power DHT vacuum tubes such as 300B will have enough power to handle very demanding headphones with stella dynamic.

In addition, Empyrean pairs well with tube headphone amplifier, we have tried tube amplifiers from Auris, Cayin and Feliks in previous shows and they all sings with Empyrean. So do consider the tube option seriously.
