Hi, great post. Can I ask what amp you are using to drive your Empyreans for when mastering and when just enjoying them.
Hi
Im using mostly my SPL mastering console head amp. I allso have my custom made amp, but SPL drives them so cleanly that it allmost never get use nowdays. And in my kitchen setup, i use X-Can v3, with siemens tubes, that is not as clean as above, because of tubes, but its good enough for just enjoying the music.

New Empy owner here... Just got them yesterday and the burn in process has started but... they sound amazing from the word go so no matter how long it takes it will be a pleasure. I'm using them with the Chord TT2 & M Scaler. The tone and detail feel superb and haven't been tempted to tweak it with Roon EQ at all.

Love the copper detail...

Amazing looking that copper!
Btw, drivers are made from few microns thin polymer material, so there is nothing to "drive in". Just enjoy!

Excellent... that just leaves the head-burn-in then :)

Ordered a pair and they are arriving tomorrow. I was looking for any impressions of Empyreans paired with the Sony TA-ZH1ES. I am debating the sony vs. the rupert Neve DAC / AMP and would love to hear impressions from the community

I run it with the Taz and with the alcantara pads, the soundstage is huge and fun. Sometimes the music gets a bit too warm this way but the leather pads help change that up quickly :)

My new-to-me Empys. Everything sounds new, fresh and lush so I'm working my way through all my favorites.

Yesterday was my first full day with my Empys... used the leather pads with a mixture of music and they sounded fantastic. Beautifully detailed and transparent sound. Great bass and trebles are crystal without any harshness. Felt comfortable even after 7 hours of use while working on photos and illustrations... they sort of melted away. Didn't feel like they'd fall off as I ducked and moved around.

This morning, Roon is playing music based on "Dark Days Exit" by Felix Brand, great mix of electronic music with mind bending imaging & soundstage. The alcantara are incredible with this genre. Soundstage feels really big and imaging precise and fast with panning sounds. They certainly make it easier to get over not being able to use my speakers during the day now the better half works from home as well! Great experience so far.
