Quite a few impressions have been posted since February as can be seen in
https://www.head-fi.org/search/13688487/?page=3&q=angled&t=post&c[thread]=959445&o=date. Ichos made a detailed review in
https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/meze-audio-angled-alcantara-pads.26404/.
If you can read frequency response graphs,
Post #4,604 sums up the objective tonal differences pretty well, particularly less of an upper bass and lower midrange hump which I'd say enhances clarity, a greater sub-bass roll-off that some might regard as "tight" or "fast", and a bit more ear gain and treble which might contribute to the subjective sense of its being more "revealing". Some report improved soundstaging and imaging, which I personally don't hear. I would agree that the angled Alcantara pads do sound more "open" and clear from a tonal standpoint, though brighter, though I personally would rather achieve such with fine-tuned EQing of the hybrid pads which don't sacrifice the sub-bass and the distortion performance thereof. If your ears touch the gratings of the hybrid pads, then the angled Alcantara pads may help for comfort, though as seen in the measurements in
Post #4,612, you could achieve similar spaciousness or clarity with the stock Alcantara pads without too much change in tonality, mind those measurements should be enough for you to EQ the stock Alcantara pads to sound similar to the angled Alcantara pads.
I in
Post #4,774 developed a PEQ (parametric EQ) based on the measurements in
Post #4,604 to allow for simulation of the angled Alcantara pads' tonality while listening through one's hybrid pads. It isn't exact and may vary with different pairs of ears, but I'd say it does a decent job of simulating a more abrupt and volume-matched change of pads. Likewise, EQ here probably wouldn't be able to match the phase responses, whether such matters, though I didn't find much difference in the sharpness of transients between the pads.
