Miroslav told me that they abandoned wood because it is much more expensive and difficult to shape / work with it.
I don't know the price but there is a chance that version II will be cheaper.
Unless it's like 1500€ cheaper I wouldn't say it's Worth it

Yeah, the way an amp looks is a very important part, one which I'm prepared to pay more for when it's an expensive amp anyway. You want to feel like you're getting something that is high end in terms of looks and sound. Meze understand this and it's one of the reasons they're so popular.

I really liked the wood on the previous versions and was close to buying one of their amps... there would have to be a very large reduction in price for me to even consider that new version. I have a feeling that may well put a lot of people off.

Edit. Again, this really elevates the way Meze approach their headphones. I just could never imagine them saying, "yeah... sorry guys but we went with a very basic industrial look this time, we just wanted to do something that was easy to do". Just looking at the Elites and I'm thinking, thanks Meze for going that extra mile!

This is the Nirvana (1) which looks so much better imo.
Similar concept, maybe even better looking amp, Feliks Envy.

This was the first time I've heard the Elite with such high-end tube amp (this one with performance option, mahagoni finish). Even for fair environment it sounded ethereal. The dac was Earman. I guess there will not be any problem with power headroom. It must have been the copper upgrade cable in the Meze booth in Munich.

That's the one I went for in the end. But in oak to go with my other furniture. I wanted an amp that would handle the Elites but also anything else that may come around in the future. For me, this is something I intend to keep looooooong term.

I agree with everything.

I know I had the same concern but when I reached out to the Feliks Euforia forum here at Head Fi and there were a couple of replies that said it ran the Elites very well indeed. I think a few reviews also used the combo and reported very positively about it.

I also looked at the Auris 2SF (I've been looking around for a while now) and also seen positive findings with the Elite Auris pairing. The only thing that put me off was the brightness of the VU meters. I often listen in a room with low lighting, especially in the winter, and a few people reported that they were very bright.

How are you getting on with the Lavricables Grand for the Elites?... I've been running mine in and not sure if they've fully settled down. Unfortunately I also added a Furutech FI-50 NCF to my power cable which has complicated things as that does take a while to burn in/settle down tonally. In hindsight, I should've waited a week or two before adding that plug to the power cable making it easier to track the changes of the headphone cable.
I've only heard the Elite with my Lavri Grand silver so I'm afraid I have no comparison opinions.
However, I am extremely happy with the combo.

Sooooooo freaking sexy.
First and foremost, for me it's about the sound. However, I am also an enthusiast as many of you are. Even when my system is off, I like to just look at it. Sounds corny but as an enthusiast I take pride in beautiful headphone pornography.

Back when it was released the power supply was in a 2nd chassis of same type. Those were gorgeous.

However for cost reasons the power supply has been replaced by a plain Black Box.

Thanks. Listening tonight and there is a beautiful smoothness with sweet highs and detailed lows. The problem I had was that I added the Furutech plug that takes at least 150hrs before it begins to settle just as the headphone cable was coming round. Even though I was quite sure the poor tonal performance was the plug burning in it didn't stop me from being a bit paranoid over the Lavricables Grand cable. The plug still has quit a bit of running in in it yet but it's nowhere near as up and down as it was.

Makes you wonder why they didn't keep a hold of the wooden power supply and sell it as an upgrade option. I bet they would have sold quite a few of those. Naim make it part of their business plan.

Yes, it truly is a wonderful pairing in my opinion. I'm getting tremendous amount of detail but it's a natural, real, organic sound. In fact, the entire frequency range is seamless and coherent. The clarity I'm getting is remarkable. But anyone reading this shouldn't mistaken it with being bright. Not at all actually. Everything, from top to bottom, throughout the entire range is like I said, seamless.

The first 3 days were a bit rough compared to the Meze Silver cable. With less than 50hrs burn in, the soundstage was very flat and bright compared to the Meze cable. I left it running 24/7 on another system for a couple of days or so. It was the third or fourth day that I noticed it becoming a lot richer in tone and that the depth of soundstage was returning.

So, in addition to you your description of the Lavricables Grand, which I think is bang on, I'd also add that anyone buying it without the burn in service do need to be ready to run it in for 50-100hrs before it starts to settle down properly.

I agree. I let mine run for 150 hours while at work until I made critical judgment
