MEZE AUDIO ELITE - The New Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone - official thread

Isn't that the big question! I wonder too! It's gonna be comfortable for sure but maybe not as comfy as the Z1R.

Let's hope we get some good reviews soon. Would be nice if @Ichos and @Currawong have units already hehehe.
We're talking about Meze here.
They basically invented comfort...

I find my Z1Rs are more comfy than the Elites but I have a small head so the Elite earcups are a bit on the large side for me, perhaps the elongated design is the issue here. It’s still decently comfy but not Z1R levels for me.

Currently listening to Chord TT 2 and (loan) Elite. Oh my...

Empyrean while has lifelike timbre, it is a bit off in transient and dynamic aspect, make this headphone become "sleepy, dull, and lazy" to me, and final result in far from natural.

Elite, however, produce similar timbre of Empyrean, but now Meze fix the transient and dynamic very, very well! One hour impression is ridiculously good for me. Elite sound snappy, meaty, full body, retain good dynamic range through many type of songs. Most important of them all, now Elite bring lifelike experience way better than Empyrean, and now it scares my wallet...

Character wise, Elite complement my Diana Phi nicely.

Finally getting my first serious audition of the Elites using the Chord Hugo2 - > Xduoo TA20.

All I can say is wow...vocals are lifelike, bass is deep and rumbles nicely, kick drums have a very satisfying impact and acoustic instruments sound....well lifelike...treble is smooth and well extended. These are special.

Psychoacoustics are great even without crossfeed. Imaging is on point. Detailed enough and every bit as musical as the Empyrean, even more actually...

And the comfort...these are even more comfortable than Empy. I don't feel them. I'd say they are on par with Z1R for comfort.

IMO a clear upgrade to the Empys. They keep the DNA and take the SQ to the next level. The satisfying thickness of the Empy sound is totally there. I missed it so much!

I am a minor bass head and I am not feeling any need or desire to bump the bass up.

Stage is very decent, not the biggest but very good nonetheless.

Did I mention the vocals? Incredible.

Instant love.

I feel I need to balance this a little bit so here are the negatives:

😊

Listened to my new Elites today for an hour~, I maintain that these are planar ZMFs.
Interesting finding, as a Verite fan boy, I like the sound presentation of Elite as well.

Honestly, I'd put Empyrean below Verite Open when we talk about pure technical abilities (micro detail, texture, imaging, soundstage quality, separation, dynamic range, black background and speed). However, Elite is clearly above Verite on those section. So, for me Elite is easily the most perfect Meze Headphones ever create.

OK I keep reading this thread and seeing awesome reviews. Can't help but think the Elite audition time I had was flawed...

Does anyone here have the Chord Dave and a tube amp, with the Elite? Could you let me know if u hear any major differences between plugging in the Elite directly into the Dave (which was what I did during the demo) vs going via the tube amp?

I have a Hugo2 with a (hybrid) tube amp and happy to try later Hugo2 vs going through tubes.

Which pad you tried? When I tried the velour (non leather), personally it mess up the timbre a bit. i wouldn't have interest with Elite if their standard pad is velour.

WIth leather pad, actually, I start to think to let my Diana Phi go. Purely technical Diana Phi is a bit better. Abyss is truer, more honest, and closer to the real recording. Elite has additional one "Meze Layer" that create Meze house sound in Elite (which is good). You may say, Diana Phi is more revealing and accurate, Elite is tune for more soulful.

Diana Phi give better sense of open feeling, with better speed, and wider imaging. Elite offer better holographic imaging, better depth and height. If Elite is front row, then Diana Phi is on the stage position (more forward at midrange area). Elite actually produce more sparkle treble, with bigger bass body and impact as well. Still retain buttery smooth though. Diana Phi is more mid centric presentation and more neutral when produce timbre.

If Diana Phi excel at upper mid area due to effortless and fluid feel, Elite excel at lower mid area, where singer become meatier, but still with clear texture.

Where are you based? Maybe I should send you the Dark Mystery for a photoshoot too hehehe
