MEZE AUDIO ELITE - The New Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone - official thread

A day with the angled pads with EDM with that 4db gain at 40Hz and Q 1.1 and it sounds really good. I had incorrectly referred to it as 40kHz earlier (corrected) but it has some serious thump without losing the good bits I like about the angled pads. Screen shot below. I’d still use no EQ for most genres, especially classical etc but for strong thumping tight bass… that one 4db adjustment works great with dance etc, love it!

Lavricable grand, 4 or 8 cores? How is it compared to silver plated meze upgrade cable?

Been swapping the pads over and over and I will settle for the hybrid pads. I prefer their feel and tonality just a bit over the angled pads.
While I had my Empyrean I strongly preferred the angled pads. With Elite it's less obvious for me which one I prefer so happy to have both types.

Does the angled have less bass but larger stage and more top end?

Has anyone here moved up to an electrostat after owning the Elite? Is there an electrostat worth upgrading to with similar levels of comfort?

Matter of fact, has anyone upgraded to something different that's better than the Elite in the sound department whilst not compromising on comfort regardless of driver technology?

I know sound could be subject to taste but there exist headphones which are objectively superior (and more expensive).

Comfort is my number one priority and it seems like Meze are one of the few that do it right. Would be cool to see an updated MZ driver. I hope Rinaro are on it.

I just wonder if these could sound any better sonically. I mean we had the Empyrean, right. There must be more room for improvement albeit marginal.

In terms of comfort there is no other manufacturer on the same level.

Rinaro is working on New MZ drivers, so there will be more Meze x Rinaro headphones in the future.
Rinaro also has experience with electrostats but focuses on the MZ driver series for now.
(Maybe throw them a message if you also have interest in an electrostat with Meze house sound)

Yes I would say so. A little more airy.

I liked it, despite a reduction in bass.

I just prefer the Hybrids on the Elite.

Comfort? Yes. Stax x9000 are as comfortable (if not moreso as they have slightly less clamping force). As for sound quality, no. Estats just don't have the deep bass that planars do. They're incredibly clean and precise, but there's no "oomph".

I find the susvara to be more open and detailed in sound, it makes the elites sound a little closed in and darker/thicker

Stealth (and probably Expanse) are big upgrade sonically imo, and with just as good comfort, if not better. They feel just about the same on the head (ever so slight nod to the curved headband on the Elites), but it's nice to be able to handle the Stealth with one hand, easily place them down, pick them up. That alone makes it "win" for me in the comfort department, though it's something most people don't really index for.

Elite is easy to take down with one hand but putting it back on demands good juggler.

In general I'm not a fan of electrostatic headphone, however, X9000 is indeed sound sublime. It's still crazy revealing, just like any other high end electrostatic cans, but when the recording is good, X9000 perform really well in term of being natural, smooth and "sharp" imaging quality. Comfort wise, also great. Not Elite level yet, but close.

I won't bluntly recommend people to go Stealth/Expanse direction coming from Meze Elite. They sound too different. Stealth/Expanse is a comfortable headphone indeed. Still, not Elite level, but close.
