Tried Oratory’s EQ and found that the headphones lose their spatial qualities with it, even though they do sound somewhat smoother. I slowly weaned myself off it and was only using a subbass shelf of around +4 dB for a long time. But now I just raw dog em - I’m used to the sound and enjoy them without EQ. Life’s easier this waywhich EQ do you prefer if you use one? oratorys? or something else

Took some time to get used to them but now i love them. Had my love/hate relationship with them but it is much better now. The comfort alone makes them a keeper

Just tried one of my test tracks, Royals by Lorde. Both headphones sound very enjoyable.Hi Peter
Juust spotted what you use in your footer. I also have the Eligia and am considering the Meze 109 Pro as my "open back" option. How would you describe the differences between them in practice?
Thanks
J
My Elegia headband has broken, but it is not yet falling apart. I have to hold them tight to my ears to do a fair comparison...
With the Elegias I heard a bit more thump in the lower bass hits. With the 109s I heard a tight and articulate bass, and the finger snaps are a bit crisper.
The 109s are very comfortable and I ware them far more than the Elegias.
Be gentle with the Elegias to avoid making the same mistake I did (over stretching).

Just want to ask if there is any special 'trick' involved in putting the ear pads on the 109 Pro?
They have a YouTube video where someone replaces them in not much more than a minute. I think that must be a magician of some kind
To me it seems a bit like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube, and I don't think I'm particularly challenged in the fine motor skills department

I applied the technique that is shown in this video:
I know this is not the same headphones, but the technique is the same.

Thanks for the link.
Did you manage to turn only the small rubber band 'inside out'?
The one I saw was this. Seems a bit too easy to me

I didn't turn it all over at once. I turned it little by little just before sliding it into place.
Sorry if I was not very clear. English is my second language.

The 105 AER is a more affordable version of the 109 Pro that shares a lot of its characteristics.

Nice one!
That's very interesting, I will definitely keep an eye on that. I wonder how it will be received compared to the 109 Pro. Looking forward to hearing more.

The 105 AER is a darker tuned more affordable version of Mezes open dynamic headphones.
It's not as detailed as the 109 Pro, but at its price point of 400€ It's an excellent offering
As usual build quality and comfort leave the competition in the dust.
The straight connector is a nuisance tho

I concur
Absolutely fantastic sound for the money and it might appeal more to people who find the 109 Pro a touch bright.

Are the cups made of plastic? They seem a bit plasticky in the pictures. Also, does the position of the connectors not cause any problems? The perpendicular position could potentially cause some issues, I suppose.
