Are the cups made of plastic? They seem a bit plasticky in the pictures. Also, does the position of the connectors not cause any problems? The perpendicular position could potentially cause some issues, I suppose.
Yes, they are made from abs plastic.

Probably plastic, but feels solid, not plasticky at all. These are preproduction units, release probably in near future. But how near?

~2 months, 400€

Feels a lot more sturdy than the Sennheiser HD620S. So even though it's plastic, it still feels better than the Sennheiser and Hifiman offerings at that price.

I really dislike the straight connectors though.
They told me it's more complicated to have it angled and would increase production cost and they really tried to keep the 400€ price point.

At the price it's a strong offering though.

The 105 looks interesting. I eventually sold my 109s because I found them to be too bright and a bit too withdrawn in the mids for my taste. If this can at least get the treble balance right, I’ll consider getting a pair.

I did it myself a couple of weeks ago.

I applied the technique that is shown in this video:

I know this is not the same headphones, but the technique is the same.

The 105 AER is a darker tuned more affordable version of Mezes open dynamic headphones.

It's not as detailed as the 109 Pro, but at its price point of 400€ It's an excellent offering

As usual build quality and comfort leave the competition in the dust.
The straight connector is a nuisance tho

For the life of me, I have not been able to properly replace the stock pads with the Dukoni pads (maybe not the day to make this replacement -- could not even post my reply without repeating the posting a couple of times with my reply missing -- sorry). So, easy to remove stock pads and see the plastic lip sliding out of the slot. Not able to put the stock pads back on the 109's using the slot; same with the Dukoni pads. But, I was able to put both Dukoi pads on the 109 with the lip of the pads on the outer wood part of the 109's. It sounds good and is an improvement over the stock pads properly inserted but not sure this is the way to go. Question: should I just leave it attached as is or keep trying?
Thanks

anyone still using the 109?
it is so interesting how some don't enjoy at all, and some love them to death.
but i guess that is pretty normal with every gear.
i love both my s2 and the 109.
That's the way it always has been. I was bored to tears with the Empyrean.

I don't use them every day, but I do still use my 109s a decent amount, especially if I'm looking for comfort. They are hands down the most comfortable headphones I have. It is kind of weird that as I've gotten other headphones that I started to push the 109s into a "well, they're okay". I had them on again the other day, and was surprised at how well they sounded. Audio memory is trash in humans, or at least this human, methinks.
