but what i am wondering, will the closed back design affect the soundstage? will it sound different? or did they something to prevend a too in your head sound?
damn you are right. still verry expensive tought. i was first thinking about the HD800s but it is so hard to drive, and requires EQ to sound good to my liking. so i think i took the right choise with the meze.

Did you try the hd800s? that is really great to hear. i actually heard some jazz with them too which really isn't my type of music. but i enjoyed it. feelt like i was in the concert listening to them
Sennheiser HD600 series
Audeze LCD2 variants
Focal something something (actually forgot the names of the models below the clear, however I also prefer the 109 over the clear)
I would say yes.
Best to listen to music first and to music in the style that you create to gauge the bass levels.
I always use a HD800 Dupont mod set as they were my main driver for many years.
The Meze to my ear have the same view into the mid range and fairly similar highs. (on some tracks where the frequency is in a certain range the 109 glisten slightly more).
The bass is where they differ, the 109 has a lot less bass roll off.
I still think the 800 bass is good it is more projected at me from a far where the bass off the 109 is close to me.
The mids and highs are projected out on the 109.
So for me it was getting used to the bass.
Only whole they are great for studio work as long as you are not recording from microphones etc as they leak sound.
I now sometimes use the 109 and sometimes the 800 to produce. They are both great and its nice to hear if I think the same on both and I tend too.
I would think here that lesser bass on HD800 makes them go deeper into a recording, so maybe a touch more tailored for recording/mastering jobs. Then again, I also think that studio work is done by people who have their own subjective preferences, so I may be wrong

You can notice more with less bass in the way. The 109 has great resolution and imaging though that make them good for producing.
You could EQ the 109 back a bit via the Peace / APO app if you find it too much but I don't think people do. I know I like the bass. Its like having and 800 with punch to a degree.
Or listen to the type of music you make as a reference to how hot your bass should be in your own track.
csch92, I used to DJ back in the 90s and here in the UK its got an Oldskool scene where the ravers from back then are going out to gigs again.
So I make mash ups by editing the old 90s original taking out the vocals to make way for a different vocal.
I do it so it makes it somewhat fresh for me as I have heard these tunes so many times now.
I am pigeon holed as the a guy who plays Oldskool so thats what I do to play gigs.
It wont be something anyone here would want to listen to so I wont post any haha.
