Meze Audio 109 Pro

They are both very similar sound-wise. I only do copper. Silver plated cables are to hot for me.
Thanks.

I used big gauge OCC silver cables in the past with my now sold Utopia with great results but that would cost near the same as the 109!

Silver-plated cooper is another beast. Brighter than pure big gauge silver in my experience. But I have only about 40 hours on the cable at the moment. The first hours were promising. Much less sharp than now. Will wait to at least 100 hours for final judgment.

I’m tempted by the Norne Drausk Lite v2. 19 AWG of Litz OCC coper. Much bigger gauge than Meze. Should give a more fuller sound to these pretty damn good pleasant headphones.

I am happy with the silver plated 4.4mm Meze cable ($169 CAD).

I am a retired senior with typical age related top end frequency hearing loss. This cable seems to match my needs. Not too "hot" or sibilant. Just right (as Goldilocks would say).

Thanks Lord for finally make me hearing the Truth 🙄

I'm not religious, so it's not really a big concern of mine, just a word of advice to maybe help you save money and not believe in fairy tales.

How it compare soundwise in comparison of the Meze PCUHD copper?

I’m currently burning a Meze PCUHD silver-plated and it’s probrably too much high energy in the treble region.

I will most certainly buy a good copper cable. Have to decide between the Meze PCUHD copper and a more heavier gauge OCC copper cable (ie. Norne Drausk).
I am starting to prefer the LQI cable. It seems clearer and wider, soundwise. It's more user friendly. Lighter with a choice of colors and splitters/plugs.

You prefer it to the Meze PCUHD copper cable? Does it affect the sound signature or frequency balance, in your opinion?

I get the sense of better clarity and soundstage. To be fair, I haven't put as many hours on the Meze cable. The Meze cable is beautiful. I will get 100 hours on both and repost.

Thanks. The Meze Premium cables are well made no doubt but I find it rather thin regarding quantity of copper used. As far as I know, they don’t disclose the AWG of their cables but my guess is they would be between 24-26. I’m looking for 18 to 20 AWG OCC copper Litz cables. That will inevitably bring more body to the sound. Norne and Artic seems to have what I want with reasonable pricing.

I love the sound of OPOCC with the 109 Pros. I will have to check out Norne and Arctic.

Not sure why you mentioned IEM as we are obviously talking about the 109 Pro.

Anyway, Artic is selling the Aegis 20 AWG OCC copper Litz, Magnus 18 AWG and Apeiron 15.5 AWG of the same material. Norne is selling the Drausk V2 Lite at 19 AWG of OCC copper Litz cable.

Sorry for the confusion, I thought I was on a different thread. I have corrected my post.

The Magnus does look interesting at a competitive price. I already have the Meze PCUHD cable, but I thank you for mentioning the alternatives. As I said I will look into those options, as I love the 109 and I like to experiment with cables.

No problem. I wanted the Premium copper for the 109 Pro as it was more suited for his sound signature than the Premium silver-plated but at the Montreal Audio Fest show last week, the rep cannot find the Premium copper and make me listened to the silver-plated on the spot. It was much better than I thought at first listen. So I bought it because I wanted badly to use my Fiio M11Plus balanced output. But with more hours on it, the sound became more agressive. But I have to say that since last night, I find the combination pretty good and less offensive. I’m listening to music as I’m typing this and I have a hell good fun. What you gonna Do About me with Buddy Guy and Beth Hart is playing and it’s darn good. But I wouldn’t mind more fullness. Hence my upcoming purchase of a bigger gauge OCC copper cable.
