BTW, if anyone is wondering, Sony UK now says: "Available from beginning of May "  ... That's a week away!

No, as soon as you insert the 3.5 mm plug into the audio jack, the internal electronics turn off automatically. They won't turn on again until you remove the plug.


oh! i never actually thought of this before (about asking the controls during wired mode). i only thought that the mic and others will be turned off (the ones without corresponding physical buttons) but not the music/call control.
 
is this the same with MDR-1RBTMK2 although it has buttons instead? will the slider/button controls not work too if the unit is wired or is this a MDR-1ABT disadvantage? thanks guys :wink:

The 1RBTMK2 behaves the same way when plugged in. The cable is a standard TRS audio cable, so it does not carry the mic signal. You could get a cable with in line mic/controls if you have to use it plugged in, but that could be difficult on the 1ABT because of the recessed audio jack.

How are the mics on the 1abt? Anyone try them out? For phone, skype, etc..
