Thanks but I'm not there yet.

The flight from Ice Station Zebra to the nearest Mcintosh dealer is half the price of the amp.
I'm going to have to figure out their weird no shipping policies, which dealer, where etc.

Almost there and should be ordering from a reputable dealer this afternoon.

Then I have to figure out how to get it up here safely.

And I still haven't figured out which cans to pair with this thing. Thinking a set of HD800 and LCD3 as a starting point.

Also, I've developed this strange itch to pair the MHA100 with a MC275. So far this is just idle gear lust.

That said, I've locked my wallet up in the basement.
I couldn't stand the screaming.

I hope you resolve your shipping issue soon. I help Beagle to get his MHP1000 headphones so if you need help let me know.
I haven't experience the LCD-3 with the MHA100 but the HD800 to my ears sound the best out of it compared to any other amp I have tried. Also the MHP1000 sound wonderful. Thye have the biggest soundstage I have heard out a closed can.

Some people think they would sound like a Beyerdynamic but they don't at all. They are much better. Last weekend we had a mini meet and Wotts who has the T1 (I used to own them too) said that clearly they are much better.

The MHA100 even powers the HE-6 good from the headphones output at the High gain and High impedance setting. There is no difference in the sound that I can hear between that and the speakers tabs.

As someone who has had (and sold) a pair of HD800 previously, I can truly agree with musicmans statement above. Out of the MHA100 they sound truly fantastic. Very, very detailed, very smooth, wide soundstage, even a fairly deep bass, which is just beautiful in its own right.

Just a great match, that, hopefully, if you went this route, you would agree with.

Good luck.

What?!? You just got it. Why are you thinking of selling it already?
I need a stronger speaker amp. I'm debating on getting a d100 & marantz power amp. About the same price as a mha100. I'll lose a few hundred, but I'll live.

Can anyone recommend a flagship pair of cans that have heavy bass along with all the other qualities audiophiles enjoy? I listen to a lot of hip hop and EDM music.

JVC DX1000

I guess none of the headphones that cost around the 2k mark really have heavy bass? I'm not a fan of how the dx1000 looks.
I
Try the LCD-XC's on the MHA-100 before you decide to sell it, if you can.

If you got a really great deal for the lcd3's (say, at lcd x or xc cost) would you take it?

Can this amp be obtained at anything less than full retail price?
I might be selling mine, other than that I doubt it.

Closed cans like the XC will have better "bass head" bass than the open LCD3's. The bass on the XC's is tight and clean, and then you have the option on the MHA100 with the bass boost to make them really fun.
