Nah.. the sound it makes is already the reward. Update on the combo. It seems after putting in a few hours, the combo lacks presence with the upper mids. Shouted Vocals youd expect to end in with glory are somewhat cutoff. But still an enjoyable rig.

Really, thanks for that. What does the MHA on its own sound like, after listening to the combo for a while?

Appreciate your time!!

Hi all, I'm proud to announce that i'm officially an MHA100 owner. It wont be here until late this week or early next, but either way earlier than i intended. Is anyone here pairing this with the KEF LS50's? if so, your impressions? Could these speakers benefit from a more powerful amp, or no based on the spec sheet? Super siked!!

Yeah I also want to try this with the LS50s.  Got the p3esr (sounds nice), but tempted to try the kefs.  Any impressions are welcome.

Hi, I'm new here.
I'm MHA100 owner and I have a question. How can I change the default volume value when change output, as now it always been 30%.
Here is my system:
DAC: Invicta Mirus
AMP: MHA100
Headphone: LCD-3, TH900, W5000
Speaker: Elac 310CE
As written in MHA100's manual, if volume could be adjust in an extend DAC or pre amp, it is better to fix MHA100's volume to 70% to get the best performance. And Since Invicta Mirus has a well designed digital volume control, I want to fix MHA100's volume to 70% and adjust volume on Invicta Mirus.
The problem is when I want to change output from headphone to speaker or just change impedances, the volume return to 30% and I have to adjust it again.

If that can't be set, how can I feed back this problem to maker and hope to get a firmwire update?

Thats kind if weird, i dont think mine does this. The volume does not reset when i change between speakers and dif headphone impedences. Did you set up a profile that it may be reverting the volume to or something?

Just delete all profile and still same problem.
I think the profile can not reverting the volume because I tried to create a profile with 70% volume and failed.
Firmware version is V1.00
Is there any update?

trying to decide on a speaker amp first to pair with my D100... MC202, MC302, MC352 are all options... thoughts?

I'd keep my eye open for a MC452. Terrific amp. They do tend to pop up used...especially in the audioaficianado forum (still my favorite forum for all things McIntosh).

Your system could really grow/evolve around this amp. IMHO, it is the best bang-for-your-buck amp in the Mac line-up.

Just checking in to say hi to the contributors of this thread. Has anyone thought of a McIntosh alternative to buying the new McIntosh MHA 100 Headphone amp. Maybe a pair of MC 501s and then a nice McIntosh preamp with a heaphone output would sound pretty nice and for a lot less money. Are there any other possiblities that utilize McIntosh equipment that would sound fantastic. Don't get me wrong. I do love McIntosh.

I have compared my MHA100 to the headphone output on my C2300 tube preamp. The MHA drove the headphones better, with more solid & detailed bass and just simply better overall sound. Perhaps if I was using Grado's or another easy-to-drive headphone, the differences would have been more subtle, but with my Audeze cans, I much prefer the MHA100.

Also, the fact that I can have an all-in-one integrated here at the office is a lot better than a full Mac Stack!

4N6- Well I will bet there is a McIntosh formula that would sound better that the MHA 100. I must admit that I have only tried the MHA 100 system once with the McIntosh headphones and I thought the sound was good but not excellent. If you think that the total system-amp and headphones are well over $6000, you or I begin to wonder if there aren't better ways to achieve great McIntosh sound without such an expense.

Interesting.  Now maybe we will see a few more D100's on the used market for good prices:)
