McChanson amps tube rolling thread

If you're to do a lot of tube rolling (and you would if you have Ultimate) then it's better (obvious) to get a Super chassis with dual drivers option. You have more room for your hands to reach for the tubes and a lot more tube options.

6J5 in all it's forms are good and interesting.

6J5gt metal base
6J5 metal
6J5G coke bottle
L63
VR135 with adapters
6c2c
6s3p
EC86
6s45p / 6s15p with adapters
etc

Don't forget that c3g with adapters can be used in the 6J5 slots.

That is correct. Do not make any assumption about amps you have not heard.

I on the other hand have own and heard a lot of other tube amps. They are:-

Woo Audio WA22
Glenn OTL amp
Felix Audio Elise and Euforia
La Figaro 339i
ALO Audio Studio Six
Elekit 8200
Ultrasonic Studio Odyssey
Ultrasonic Studio Oblivion

When you give an opinion about the sound when comparing 2 tube amps, it will always be subjective. When someone says they like the 'A' tube amp and others say they like the 'B' tube amp, that is their subjective opinions.
Yes great point and also important is what type of headphones you listen with

Mullard EZ80, Mullard 6F6GT, Amperex Bugle Boy 12AU7-ECC82 & Sylvania 6Y6GA in UltimatE. Currently the Mullard 6F6GT in the drivers' seat, providing a bit more low end and midrange warmth to the sweet and sparkling highs Sylvanias are known for. A beautiful combination!

At least someone still remembers 6Y6GA. :relaxed:

Using Sylvania 6Y6GA now. Pretty good. I have 2 pairs !
Bell-like treble, these really tintinnabulate (man I love that word). :bell:

6Y6GA is the least bright of the 6Y6 to my ears. That's the reason I like it the most.

Bell-like treble nevertheless. A new Lory coined word.
Find the album below in HD FLAC on QoBuz or Tidal, listen to the final "Gigue" movement of Partita #1 on UltimatE with the Sylv. 6Y6GA and you will hear bells too. :musical_note: :)

I have several Bach LPs. Let me see what they are. Bought classical LPs for my retirement years. :relaxed:

Can anyone explain why some EL34 tubes have 7 pins and others have 8 , I have noticed this lately as I have one with a pin missing ?

Very good catch @crakers7. My 2 pairs of Tesla and 1 GE all have 8 pins and a pair of Matsushita has 7 pins.
Yep , its weird , doesn't seem to effect them either

My Siemens EL11 arrived today and are sounding great , very close in sound IMO to my EL12 spez Telefunkin , maybe not quite as good in the low end . Sounds perfect with some classic Blues . Bobby Rush. This legend is 90 and still touring and recording albums . Legend !!
Marconi EZ81/U709, RCA 5691 Red Base , Siemens EL11. Also sounds great with my new ITT 5A/152M drivers which adds a little more top end sparkle.
